Tipping Mousekeeping

Last year we tipped $5 per day for the four of us - we never got any towel animals or anything extra though - not that we expected any, but it would have been nice.

I guess that's why I take my family to WDW.... to feel like a kid again:woohoo:

So very true. I STILL (after 29 trips to WDW) start to giggle uncontrollably when we pass under the "entrance" sign. :rotfl2: Of course when I did it on the DME bus and we didn't have our kids with us for that trip, my DH thought I was a little more nuts than usual. ;)

Living vicariously through all of you that are going ... 'cause we're not.:sad1:

Going without our11 year old son this trip in a little over a month and i think I am more excited this trip than last year:lmao:

Last trip at POFQ, we tipped every day in the beginning but we started to notice that the room wasn't completely cleaned - the trashcans weren't being emptied, the top bed spread wasn't being replaced, crumbs, they stopped leaving extra soap and shampoo. So we stopped leaving tips.

At the Poly, we tipped every day and had great service. We left the same tip amount at both locations. The room was impeccable! And we even got a towel animal! The Mousekeeper even left a little bag with a ton of extra soap and shampoo :) In case you're wondering, I take them with me to the gym!

We have had a both a great MK experience and a lousy one, both at POFQ. Our first trip we left $3 to $4 a day for the three of us and we had towel animals every day, our DD's toys were arranged in a fun fashion and lots of extra soap was left.

On our second trip we told our friends, new to POFQ, to expect some towel animals and told thier DDs to bring toys. We got nothing the whole trip. I was really ticked about the whole thing becasue this time we made up and decorated special envelopes for the tips and was prepared to tip $5 a day for each room. Our room was never properly cleaned, right down to not vacuuming and dusting ( I learned to check by day three). I wrote out a note for the morning of our fourth day ( we were there for 8 in total) and asked the MK to please do a towel animal for each room for the kids. I did not even mention the messy room. I left a larger tip in the envelope. The envelope and note were taken. The room was still a mess and there was not even an attempt to make an animal.

By this time I had enough and we complained, something which I avoid if at all possible. We were compensated, but never did get a towel animal out of it.

So, tipping is not a gaurantee of good service and if you have unsatisfactory service I suggest discreetly menitoning it to the front desk.

Good luck, Suz

Sorry that your trip wasn't what you expected. I expect a clean room, and if it was consistently poorly cleaned, I, too, would complain. I've actually never had that happen, though, touch wood.

Towel animals are not a given by any means. I don't expect them, and, despite numerous trips, didn't get one until 2006. I was delighted, but certainly not upset when I didn't get one the next trip.

This has been a great discussion so far..I don't know if any of you have seen the other discussions about tipping mouskeeping...they're on another board..but they got really heated and pretty mean to each other...it's nice to see that people can have a discussion and not get "rowdy".
To answer the question, we are anxiously awaiting our first trip on Sept 15, and yes we plan to tip each day. I work in the service industry here in Niagara Falls and really appreciate the tips I receive. Also, I appreciate someone else cleaning up my mess for a change, lol!!!!
Can't wait to see if we get any animals or have something special done with our stuffies!!!
