i dont ever make my room key okay for charges............can you still tip with cash? i dont appreciate when servers stand there to see what you will give them, that does not intimidate me, acutally makes them get less...........no one can tell me what to give a server, its based on service, PERIOD, I don't care what the "rules" are............I was a waitress in the past so i do apprecitate a good tip and know how to get a good tip and NEVER expected anything.....I am a nurse, and yes I am human and have bad days, but I don't take it out on my patients, they have enough to deal with...I smile and do what I am there to do...same with waiters/waitresses, people are on vacation, sorry your day isn't good but servers shall not take it out on me or my family, smile and do your job and that is all that is asked................I tip on the way out the door, in cash............no server has to run them self ragged for me but good service is a must...or your tip will reflect that. Nothing worse than never getting a drink refilled, dirty plates sitting for almost the entire meal, appetizer coming with your entree and etc.....I dont see a discount in pricing when the restaurant is overbooked, so I do expect the same good service. Not sure who set the rule that 18% is the new gratuity rate, I still do 10-15%, I have heard 18% for large parties............but I never go by that rule anyways.............could be less could be more depending on your service.............

I agree with you on the whole thing espically the 10-15% :thumbsup2
But you may get some UGLY posts as I did one similar and I got TRASHED !!
Do the cash thing when at all possible.

now if I have had exceptional service.. I have given 18% maybe even 20%
But this server went above and beyond.

:thumbsup2

I am not afraid of the internet posts, what will the users do? Beat me up? :scared1: I better watch my back now..........isn't this board about messages and comments and opinions? If someone on here thinks the ocean is yellow and orange, in their eyes, it just might be..........:rotfl: :woohoo: :woohoo: putem up, come on! I find people are tougher on the net than in real life.....its easy to be........on the net, I weigh 110 pounds, 5 ft8, long blonde hair with crystal blue eyes and I play the piano, banjo, flute and guitar...............I drive 3 BMW's when my Jag is in the shop.........oh I forgot, I am a billionaire too, just choosing to stay at the All Star!:cheer2:

You Go Girl !!!:lmao: :lmao:

I cant imagine anyone turning down a cash tip. I personally leave the tip on the CC unless the restaurant only takes cash. Disney WILL take your CC. BTW I tip in the same range as you--15% for table service, 10% for buffets.

AMEN!!!
Ok, to sort of answer your question...Yes they will take cash. BUT alot of people don't like to carry cash. You could also consider getting a disney gift card if you would feel safer carring it. They are good at most everywhere within the world. PLUS if you save your reciept where you buy it and it is lost and or stolen you can get your card replaced! It is a lil safer then cash, but your not charging things so you would still be able to say it was paid with CASH.
Now back to the tipping thing...No flaming here!!! I too have waitressed and I agree a standard tip is not fair. PLUS, here is my thing...If it is a % tip...that waitress at cracker barrle (just picked a place out of no where) that busted her butt and never let my drink run empty, brought out things before I even had to ask and goofed off with my children to make them happy...will get less of a tip than the waitress at California Grill, that could have cared less what I was drinking let alone if it was empty, would have rather I left my kids at the room or at home for that matter...but because the food, the location and the atmospere is a lil more upscale, she gets a bigger tip...HUH? How is that right??? And the waitress at a buffet gets the same tip when I am doing 1/2 the work now? I don't think so...

Sorry...wasn't trying to crash your post. Just my 2 cents. Guess I will be flamed as well!!! lol

By the way, for good service I tip well, very well. Often times it comes out well over the 15-18% that is suggested.

just making sure you can still use it.......on cruises you cannot:banana:

Okay actually you can use it on cruises
i just did on my cruise last week
cash for room service
cash in the envelopes for the servers
and the one server I didnt' see to give it too cause we missed the last night dinner I left with guest services on deck 3 and they assuered me he would get it.

so for those that like cash as I do it still works:)

But if that happens your friendly Mods will just close the thread
If it stays helpful and informative it stays if not we will just end the discussion

and will not tolerate attacks on posters

now that being said lets move back to the topic of tipping

Wait, you can use you room key (if backed with credit card) to pay the tip?

yes- when you check in at your resort the CM will ask you if you want to have charging privileges added to your KTTW card. You then give the CM the CC you wish to use (they do something) & give it back to you. Viola! Charging privileges.

and than test it somewhere
we just had a small issue on the wonder I had put charging privilages on my DD (14) KTTW card she order a smoothie and the card didn't work
luckly I was on deck and jsut handed over my card but i suggest testing the card before you actually "need" it

I hate to turn down your proposal:hippie: , but I am married to the most wonderful man ever born but if I weren't, I would say yes:rotfl: So far no one wants to meet me out in the parking lot to beat me up, so far so good:woohoo: The point is, don't go into serving "expecting" 15%-18%, you will be disappointed sometimes! Sometimes you will actually get more.............:dance3:

When I made my reservations on the phone they asked me if I wanted the credit card I used to pay my deposit linked to my KTTW for charging privileges? But I guess they might want to still see the card when we check in.

DH is into cash and I'm into plastic. But I was thinking it would be nice to have enough cash for tips (baggage handler, wait staff, and mousekeepers) and credit for anything else like the one extra meal we have that won't be covered by our DP or any shopping.
