having furniture delivered tomorrow...do i tip...bought about $7,000 worth of items(dining room suit and kitchen table and hutch)..if i do tip, how much? thanks

I usually tip furniture guys about 20 bucks....they usually put the old stuff to the curb and bring in the new stuff and there is usually 2 of them so it really only works out to 10 bucks each.

I'd never really thought about tipping delivery people like that. I figured they get a pretty good salary anyway. Of course, they probably aren't required to take the old stuff to the curb, so a tip for going out of the way like that and being extra careful with the new stuff makes sense.

A quick search on google pulled up this site on tipping. It suggests $5 to $10 depending on the size of the delivery.

I always tip about $20 and depending on the time of day tell them to have breakfast or lunch on me.

I never tipped them, I didnt know you where supose to

I do offer a tip - usually around $5 per person. However, the last few times we've had furniture delivered it's been refused.

Yet another person to tip? I don't think so. I am, sure they get at least minumum wage. I give them a cold soda and they have always appreciated it.

My b-i-l delivers furniture for a living. He owns the truck so he does make good money but his helpers only make about $10-$12/hr. He usually gets tipped $20(according to my son who works for him occassionally).

Anytime I've bought furniture, my SO and I've been the furniture deliverers, so I've never tipped.:p

For some reason, the title reminded me of cow tipping.:o

DH works in the furniture business, and does deliveries. Tipping is pretty standard. I would say he gets about $20 a trip, when he does them! Now, it's not his full job to do deliveries (he's a manager there), but the ones who do deliver on a regular basis, do NOT make good money - maybe $8 an hour?

$5 to $10 a person and a cold drink (or morning coffee)

When we moved here from Brooklyn, we were quite surprised to have all delivery people refuse tips. We were so used to automatically tipping everyone.

We've never thought about tipping, b/c the store usually charges us $50 to $100 to deliver anyway!!

I had never paid for furniture delivery in my life until I moved here. In this region there seems to be a standard fee of $59 per delivery, no matter how many or how few items are purchased.

I knew ahead of time about the $59, which was to be paid in cash at time of delivery. It surprised me at first, but I tipped anyway.

I handed one of the guys the money with an extra $20 thrown in. He just took it without counting it. Several minutes after they left he called me on his cell phone to ask if I knew I had given him too much money. So I guess tipping is not common in this area.

I tip according to the size and weight of the furniture being delivered and where I want them to put it. If they have to go up a flight or two of stairs, they get a big tip!

$10-$25 depending on the difficulty of the delivery and the number of delivery guys.
