Tipping For Valet Parking

Like many other situations (restaurants, bellmen) the valet staff average their tips. They may not pool them but it should even out if they pickup as many as they drop off. That is the industry standard.

Personally, I always feel more comfortable with tipping at each point that a service is provided to me. Maybe it is from years of living and working in a tourist/vacation area and seeing how certain shifts, tables, etc., etc., get short changed vs another shift, etc. Disney valet CMs and other Disney tip jobs; do not pool tips and things like seniority does play a big factor in being assigned to the more preferred shifts, tables etc. I am not sure I understand how the average tips paid per hr would benefit each individual employee. If tips are not pooled, you get what you get. The average tip amount paid per hour is really only benefical/pertinent information for the organiaztion when they are reporting data to market compensation surveys not to the individual employee.

We tip two dollars at pick up only. I believe they pool valet tips at Disney (at least that is what they told me). That is quite common in the industry.

This is the opposite from what I was told by the CMs that I know that work WDW valet services on both a regualr basis and those that rotate there occasionally.

They DO NOT pool tips.I had always thought this too and only tipped on pick up.When I found out they didn't I started tipping at both drop off and pick up.

Well now I know what to do w/those $2 bills I have!!!

We usually tip $2 to $3. Probably $2 at drop off $3 at pick-up. Why, I do no know. Personally, I like to self park. I tend to keep things in the car and like to have access. There are times thought that we definately valet.

Off WDW subject-do you tip at locations that charge for Valet parking? (On weekends my local mall has valet parking. They charge $5-yesterday I was desperate for a spot-so I utilized this service. I did tip, but only $1. Not sure if that was skimpy-but I figure I paid $6 to go the mall!!)SAW NEMO
