Ok, this is a dumb question, but how much do you tip the valet parking attendants? And I would assume you tip both at drop off and at pick up right??

Members are all over the place on this subject, but personally, I tip between three and five bucks each way, depending on my mood (and whether or not I have any singles).

I agree members are all over with valet parking. Some tip at drop off only, some at pick up only, some at both ways, and the $ amounts tipped also vary just as much. I tip when I drop off and pick up my car because both ways someone is doing a service for my comfort and convenience. I tip $2.00 - $3.00 each way.

I tip on both the drop-off and pick-up. I try to tip $2 - $5 per time based on weather and other factors (money that my dw and I have on us).

The national standard is to tip on pickup. Some do tip both ways. Personally I tip on pick up but for drop off depends on whether it's raining, how fast they get to me and the like.

$2 to $3 when I get the car back. Although I may amend that after reading Deans personal guidelines.

Only on this site have I ever heard of tipping on drop off. I give the guy or woman $5 when they supply the service of getting me my car. I think some valets at WDW have got to sites like this and caused people to think they are suppose to tip when drop off. I actually had a valet tell me his name and that he would be taking my car down to the parking lot one time at BW one time, I had all I could do not to laugh at him.

I usually tip $2 both ways for prompt service, $1 if they are slow (and not busy). I figure the guy who parks it is doing the same work as the one who brings it back.

Perhaps a little off-topic, but I carry a pocketful of the golden colored d0llar coins and tip the valets with these. Never fails to get a double take.

And, I only tip on pickup ($2), unless the weather is abysmal. Then I'll tip both ways.

$2 on drop off and pick up. More if they perform some sort of extra service of course.

We usually self park, but last trip it poured every day. We usually followed standard of tipping when picking up, but felt unsure about this. One valet was so rude when we dropped off without tipping, he practically stuck his hand out in front of us. So we asked the person who was over the pkg attendants and she said it was customary to tip at drop off and pick up.

It makes sense since they both have to do the same work. We are planning a trip to Las Vegas and the travel guides say tipping on pick up only is customary, as most valets pool their tips. We'll tip both.

After checking things out on this board before our Mother's Day trip, I used the valet parking at Boardwoal for the first time. I tipped $2 each way. I felt better doing it that way because I feel they both do the same amount of work, why should one gt tipped and the other not.

We tip $2 each way, and add more if service is exceptional or the valets are particularly freindly.

"They do the same work"--where did you get that idea. They leave your car when you drop it off and use your car to go get another car to bring up. This does not always happen but is quite common, plus the attendant that gives you the ticket when you arrive rarely takes your car down to where it is parked, they may move it a little but that is it. I must say if you wish to tip both ways that is your business, I never will, and you are spoiling the attendants at WDW who will come to expect tips both ways. I will stick to my $5 when they provide me with the service of getting my car which in some cases is just yards away or just underground from where you are standing in the first place in a garage.

Do cash payers ($6) pay $2 each way? Seems like a lot unless it's raining. We tip $1 each way unless there's a special service or bad weather. And we see many not tipping at all.

The way I look at it.......no matter how you slice the pie....at both ways a service for your convenience and comfort is being provided, so therefore some type of compensation should be given. Also if you tip $2.00 each way you are actually tipping less overall but are still compensating at both ends where a service was provided to you.

Like many other situations (restaurants, bellmen) the valet staff average their tips. They may not pool them but it should even out if they pickup as many as they drop off. That is the industry standard.
