For those of you who have a timeshare or who rent timeshare type properties, how much do you leave for a tip for housekeeping? I am talking specifically about a place where you have no service during your 7 day stay.

For a 2BR unit, I typically leave $20 at the end of the stay. It's not really expected at most places, though---or, at least less so than at hotels.

Most RCI timeshares have a mid-week cleaning so I leave $10 at that cleaning and $10 at end of week so $20 in total. With timeshares, you have to make sure dishes are clean, garbage to be taken out and towels & bed linens are in the tub to make things easier for cleaning staff to clean the unit.:laundy:

That depends very much on the particular property. The ones I have visited (Bonnet Creek, Vistana, Vacation Village, OKW, and VWL) generally have *not* asked me to do a whole lot as part of checkout.

Our condo did not have a mid-week cleaning. We had no cleaning while there.

We were asked to load the dishwasher, put all bedding and towels at the door, and we wiped down everything.

We did end up moving locations half way through our stay, which was a huge pain in the behind, but the people above us were SO loud until after mid-night and then would start making noise again at 5:45am! We had to get SLEEP! I won't be staying there again as I don't think it was very well built, but I did leave $10 at the first location and then another $10 at the second location, equalling $20 total. Normally I only leave $10, but maybe for a week's stay that is too little?

Just was curious what you all left.

I have yet to leave a tip as the places I stay have a cleaning fee. Kind of like taxing something twice. ;) I also have never had mid week cleaning and end up cleaning myself or getting more towels etc.

The only places that I tip are those timeshares that provide some type of mid-week housekeeping - in Orlando that's been Vistana and at DVCs. When I've tipped $10 to $15 the housekeepers usually make sure that we're well stocked with supplies.

it seems when we have midweek cleaning they only give new towels. So we generally just leave $5 then and then another $5 at the end of the week.
