When you take your luggage to be held at the luggage services area when you check in (if your room isn't ready) so that you can go to the parks, do you tip the person that takes your luggage? I never have, but now I'm wondering if I should have? I always tip everyone else that handles my luggage (bus drivers, porters, etc), but never thought to tip the person I give my luggage to.

Yes,I always tip that CM and on check-out day, when I leave my carry-ons with them while going to the Parks and waiting for DME,I tip both the CM who takes my bags and the CM who retrieves my bags, but that's just how I do it personally:).

In February we stayed at CSR and the CM who checked in our bags at luggage services (we were storing after checkout until our nighttime flight) told us they weren't allowed to accept tips.

Otherwise, I've heard the standard rule is to tip each person who handles your luggage (DME bus driver, bell hop, etc.) and that's the rule I follow.

Interesting,I've always understood that to be a tippable job description and have never been "turned down" in 35 trips dating from 2003 to this July.

But I haven't stayed at CSR-maybe a new policy there?

I always tip on the retrieval typically $2 bucks or so a bag, though I have gone higher many times if all I have is a $10 or $20 in my Wallet. Especially at Disney I consider it money well spent if the family gets extra time in the parks to start out a vacations on a good foot.

A couple weeks ago I tried to tip when picking up our bag at CBR and he said he wasn't allowed to get tips. I asked him quietly if he could if I kept offering it to him maybe 3 times and he laughed and said yes 3 times offering was the rule so he finally accepted after the 3rd offer lol

Yeah I have found the "rule" about not being allowed to accept tips to be very subjective. I will continue to try and tip them regardless of any rule.

Last time I went, when we checked in and stored bags with bell services at CBR they said they were not allowed to accept tips, however, when we checked out and left bags with them, that person did accept my tip.

I had the same experience at CBR. I happened to deal with the same women both times and both times I offered her a tip she said she was not allowed as she was on salary.
It seems that there are people that are bell services that take tips and there are other people that seem to do the same job but are on salary.
It seemed that some were responsible for getting bags to and from rooms "on demand" - while others dealt with the magic express bags and such (so no tip) - but they also interact with folks at the bell services area.
I did not quite get it - best bet just always offer the tip - if they are not allowed to take it they will not.

There are four of us, and we each have one rolling carry-on and one small "personal bag" (small backpack, Disney shopping bag, etc.), so I will give anyone who helps us store or retrieve our bags $10. It is easier to have a stash of tens put aside for this. I'll remember to say it 3 times so they will be able to take it!

I also would tip the person who brings our groceries up to our room about $15 - 20, since there is a case of water and gallons of milk/water involved.

Honestly I just tip everyone who touches my stuff (except the ME luggage delivery person whom I have never seen ). I take a number of smaller bills to make it easier. It is surprising how many people do handle my things especially since I have to put my Walker under ME bus. I just add that into my total trip expenses.

I tip any bellhop that brings my bags to the room.
I tip the valet.
Tip the maid.
I tip the severs.
I tip the bartenders.

If someone is providing me a service, I will tip them.

Never has anyone at animal kingdom refuse a tip. Or poly. And so on. But if they don't accept it I won't push the issue.

I used to be that way, until I showed up at a Disney deluxe resort: Someone took the bags out of our vehicle, I tipped him. Then he handed me off to someone who brought me to the front desk, I tipped him. Then another person took us to our room, I tipped him. I think the baggage guys at the hotel try to maximize the tipping process by having multiple people involved in one transaction.

After that I decided I was going to tip the last person who touched my luggage.

If I do ME, I tip the driver when he removes my luggage from under the bus. Most people, it seems, do not do that. Our luggage is all wheeled so, after that, we take care of it ourselves. Saves me a lot of figuring. If I was in a wheelchair/walker and needed assistance I think I would still tip the ME guy and the last person who handled my luggage, which would be the person who takes me to the room. If I came via private vehicle and different people unloaded/escorted me to my room, I'd tip the last guy.
