Tipping Confusion?

I understand that most people tip about 1-2 dollars per bag but do you tip the bellman that loads it onto the cart or the one that delivers it to your room or both? I've never really been sure so i've most likely been overtipping.

If we are storing our bags for the day we tip both, when we drop it off and when they bring it to our room. Otherwise we just tip the bellman who brings it to our room.

I would also like to know about this I can't see giving the bellman who just removes the luggage from the car the same as the bellman who brings it to the room. Or the bellman that picks the luggage up from the room and loads the car at departure.

We usually drive to WDW so we have lots of luggage. We tip the guy that takes the luggage out of our van and puts it onto the cart $10. We then tip the bellman that takes it up to our room $20. We also do the same on the way out. We used to tip $20 for each guy but figured the first one doesn't do the work that the second does. I do think both of them deserve a tip, just discretionary on what you want to give. Also if it seems too costly then you can always turn down their service and take the luggage in yourself therefore bypassing the bellmen all together. I'm on vacation so their service is most welcome in saving my back from lugging 5 suitcases! LOL!

I have had this explained to me by the bellmen themselves!:p The one who unloads your car is known as the valet and also is responsible for parking your car. So I tip him according to how much time it takes to unload the car, then some added to park. (Lots of stuff, more time involved.. etc...) Plus how helpful he is. I have actually had to struggle to unload my child's wheelchair while the valet-unloader stood there and watched! (This thing is pretty HEAVY!) Now if I have STUFF and he unloads in a jiffy, that is a Bigger tip!

I rely on the time involved and the service "index" as to decide on how much to tip. The person who brings your luggage to your room is known as the bellman. I also tip based on how quickly my bags are delivered to my room. More of a tip is forthcoming if he is also helpful in any other way. RE: information regarding the resort, what park is early entry that day, what restaurant we should try...

But each person is given separate tips and I do not believe they share!

Your plan sounds good, until you pull up one bellman (valet) is unloading your car then another valet comes over with your Valet Ticket so you have two before you have even stepped away from your car? I know this is great service but I am overwhelmed at times.
