Tipping Bellman

Wow, if a bellman made the "last time you'll see me" comment I would specifically go out of my way NOT to tip him. How crass.

That said, my tipping habits are such. $1 per bag (and I don't include my kids tiny backpacks as a "bag" for this purpose, otherwise I'd be looking at a $20 tip by the time I counted all the "bags"!!) when the bags arrive at my room, and the same when the bags leave my room. The guy who has to take the luggage cart all the way to and from my room and lift the bags in and out of my room is the guy doing the bulk of the work, and he deserves the tip. That said, I do feel like I should give the bellman something when they take my bags from the car or bring them to the car from storage. So I usually tip a couple fo dollars at that point as well, more if the bellman actually works hard to load the luggage in the car for me.

Valet I give $2 when I retreive the keys to the car. Sometimes I'll tip a dollar on dropoff. Depends on the valet, how friendly, etc.
