Do you tip only your waiters at restaurants? Who do you tip? I thought it was only the waiters, not Bellhops putting your luggage in your room or when you leave the resort? My husband didn't give a bellhop a tip when we left the Contemporary resort and the bellhop gave him an angry look when he didn't?

Generally people in the US tip wait staff, bellhops who take your bags either to your room or from your room to your car (and generally if you store your bags some people tip something when they go back to the bell hop stand to pick the bags up). Some leave a tip for housekeeping every day, others leave a tip for housekeeping when they check out. Tip any driver (like the taxi or town car driver). Some tip the concierge if they do something special for them, like obtaining hard to get tickets or reservations. Valet drivers are usually tipped when you pick the car up again.

Everyone tips differently and in different amounts. Tips vary depending on the service. For meals it's usually 15 - 20 percent of the bill. For bell hops, generally $1 per bag.

Tips for servers at all types of Disney restaurants. Common tip at WDW is 18% of the untaxed subtotal. Bellhop is always a tipped service in any hotel, not just Disney. Going rate is $1-2 per bag.

It is customary to tip the bellman for handling your luggage. 1-2 bucks per bag. Some will not tip for various reasons, and the bellman know that is part of what happens daily, so IMO that bellman was out of line with a dirty look. I used to deliver papers and although most tips were 20% some were much higher, and some of my customers did not tip at all week after week of great service. But I was courteous to all my customers. Why? Because I understood that was how the business goes. So don't worry. It's okay. Just tip next time.

Tipped positions at WDW include Bell Services, Valet and Food Servers at Table Service dining. Other positions do not rely upon tips to make the wages required. However, you can choose to tip anyone you want.

In the US, employers are permitted to pay certain types of employees below the normal minimum wage - generally only a couple of dollars an hour - because it is assumed that tips will make up the remainder of their pay. Those are the 'tipped positions' that the PPs are referring to. So yes, while it certainly wasn't good manners for the bellman to give your husband an angry look, he was expecting a tip.

Usually we tip anyone who handles our luggage $1per bag. This includes Bell Service and DME driver if we stow our carry ons in bus luggage compartment. Also the guy you give your luggage to at Airline desk at resort when you check into your flight, and check luggage going home.
$1-2 per person daily for housekeeping. We leave tip daily because staff changes. If you only leave 1 big tip on last day, it may not be the person who's been cleaning your room all week, could be someone just starting her shift.
Waiters/waitress 18% of bill before tax.

Tipped employees in Florida make $5.03 per hour in 2015.

Disney Bus drivers are not allowed to accept monetary tips, although Disney Magic Express baggage people are allowed. Mousekeepers, concierge, bell hop, servers, and any other people who provide a service especially if they go beyond normal service appreciate, and sometimes rely on tips.

Guys quick question here from a UK visitor.
do you guys tip at bars in the US?

for example if i went to drink a beer in the rose and crown at epcot would i tip the server? - thanks in advance

You tip the driver of the Magical Express, the waiters in restaurants, the concierge (although I am not sure how much because we never use them), bell service and housekeeping (every day). And yes, you tip barman and barmaids too.

If you pay per drink it's customary to tip 1-2 dollars per drink. If paying for a tab either 1-2 dollars per drink or 15-20% of the total bill.

Officially, Housekeeping is NOT a tippable position. Their normal pay reflects that.

Bellpeople, bartenders, bar servers, restaurant servers, however, are in tippable positions. DME driver (but not the bus drivers between resorts and parks), too. Concierge, though that's much more individual.

Bartenders, bar servers, restaurant servers, bell services, valet parking attendants are the positions where tipping is expected at WDW. Not housekeepers, although many guests do prefer to tip the housekeepers.

DME drivers are not employed by Disney, they are employed by Mears transportation. In general they should be tipped when they handle your luggage. They can also be tipped if they provide good service when driving you to your destination.

Yes you should have tipped the bellman, but the angry look is out of line.

Drivers of interpark Disney transportation, character performers, etc. are not tipped.

Bellhops...

please be aware that the folks "Outside" are not disney employees. Theye will not get a tip share from the person who delivers to our room. Since we drive in and our car is a wreck at this point, they do WAA more work than the person bringing bags to the room.....*(we tip according)

Bars...yes- you are expected to tip you bar wait staff as well. Historically 10% was the proper tip for booze, the service industry has gotten us to think 15-20% there too....be careful- for example the pool bars at the Universal hotels already have the tip built into the charge
