Tipping a hotel "sales manager"?

I'm not sure of the exact title of the woman who has been helping me organize our high school trip next week, but she has been wonderful..... really "above and beyond" the call of duty.

My question... how much should I tip her? We're a group of 25 total, 8 rooms, staying for almost a week at the Fairfield Inn & Suites. Assuming everything I've asked of her (which I think is considerable) comes off successfully, what is an appropriate tip?:headache:

We obviously don't have an unlimited budget, but I really do want to show my appreciation..... I intend to put something into a thank you card, but how much??:confused3

That might be a case where I would send a gift of some sort as opposed to a monetary tip. Maybe a fruit basket or something related to your school with a note of your appreciation?

I disagree with a gift. Cash is one size fits all;) If everyone chipped in 10.00 that would make a nice "tip"

Whatever route you decide to take, please make sure to write a letter of praise to the corporate office.
Stellar service is often hard to come by, and it should always be acknowledged to the "higher ups"!

Great suggestions so far! Anyone else have any experience in this area?

I'm in corporate event planning. I agree with a gift, a thank you note and a letter to corporate.

I also work as a group and corporate event planner. I have worked with many of the sales staff.

If you do a cash gift it has to be reported and could be taxed. It is harder to put a dollar value on a gift.

I actually have put together gift baskets and shipped them. That can be expensive but I deal in very large groups so it is worth it.

One of the most popular was a basket of items from here in Utah. Mrs. Fields cookies / Salt Water taffy/ Jams/ Park City Bottle Water....watch that however it is heavy to ship. There is a company here that does flavored popcorn and that was very popular. They do the usual type cheese etc. but they also do things like rootbeer float and even had one labeled as the Utah Jazz. The nice thing about that is it is light weight and little damage to it in shipping. Also they can share with the office staff that helped her or take it home.

A note to corporate is always nice because it will effect a possible raise later which last forever and cost you nothing.

First would be a letter to corporate, it is part of the employee file and acknowledges the good works of the employee. From the letter could come a raise.

The idea of a gift is also more personal, in addition to the letter.
