Tip: Get lots of Photopass pictures

A top tip -- We love the Photopass system -- it gets us photos of each of us, and the whole family, that are professional and cute == and they look like we're having fun (which of course we are). That way I can get in the photos also, instead of just being behind the camera. Take every Photopass opportunity and then buy the CD (when you're spending thousands on the vacation, another $100 for the great photos they take is well worth the cost -- you can get prints at home for another $10-30, depending on how many you get). Be sure to "ham it up!" (And no, I'm not on commission to push the system -- I've just spent years of family vacations , without being in very many of the photos -- so it's nice to finally be part of the family in photos for posterity!). Look for special sites, like along the walkway from the hub to Tomorrowland, where you can get a photo with the castle behind you, and Tinkerbell in your hand. And keep asking them to have a Photopass person with Figment in Epcot (please)! :mickey:

I didn't know you could buy a disk either. How do they determine how much the disk is? Is it how many pictures you have on your Photopass?

In Late 2005/Early 2006, Disney's PhotoPass began allowing customers to purchase a CD with ALL of their Disney photos on it for $99.95. This also gives the customer the license/copyright to the photos so that they may be reproduced elsewhere. This CD can be purchased at Walt Disney World in three locations: Epcot's Camera Center, M. Mouse Mercantile in the Grand Floridian Resort, and at Toontown in the Magic Kingdom.

In addition to storing as many as 300 photos, each CD also includes a copyright release that allows you to reprint your photos at your local photo retailer.

We got some great photos from PhotoPass, but the one that I really wanted was one w/ the Castle in the background. That one did not turn out good, you can barely see the castle! So check them at the camera centers if there is one that you have your heart set on.....before you leave the parks!

The best souvenier we got on our last trip is our photopass photo of the whole family with the castle in the background. I purchased the 8x10 at the park before we left and they added a border with Minnie and Mickey and "The Happiest Celebration....." across the top. It was $16.95---BIG bargain.

I realized after we got home that it is the only photo we have with all of us in it. So that makes it even more special.

I will definitely be buying the CD, the photographers I ran into on our last trip were fantastic! Check out the pic below, Chad the nice young man I met came with me to the kennel, his suggestion by the way after we started talking about who I came to WDW with and took wonderful pictures. I travel solo alot..well no other 2 legged friend and it is so nice to get great pictures and not have to rely on CMs that are not used to my camera or other visitors to the parks.....Dillon is very smart but without thumbs he just can't get the hang of the camera

I think Photopass is great and the CD can be a great deal if you get lots of photopass photos taken. We don't get enough taken to make it worth it.

Also you can no longer add any enhancements to the CD photos so I'd rather just buy a couple of photos from the comfort of my home with the enhancements then pay $99 for the CD. The most photos we've ever had taken with Photopass was 58 and many were either duplicates/triplicates or they weren't that great so I bought 2 or 3.

The photopass CD is $99 no matter how many photos you have up to about 350 so the more you have taken, the better the value.

You can also order the CD when you get home but still no enhancements will be added.

You can have enhancements added to the photos if you buy them individually through Disney on when you get home online at the Photopass website.

But if you want to buy ALL your photopass photos and put them on the CD then they will not do the enhancements. It took way too much time to put enhancements on up to 350 photos for each guest.

The big advantage of the CD is that $99 for all you photos is much cheaper then buying them individually, printed by Disney. At Disney and online at the Photopass website, they are $12.95 each for a 5x7. So if you have 100 photos taken, the CD would be a cheaper way to go.

We recently got our digital camera and have not been anywhere yet where we would need to empty our memory card. Is there anywhere at Disneyworld where they will transfer the images from our card to a disk so I don't have to spend the money to buy another memory card for our trip?

So if we have photos taken and want to view them at home, so we still need to goto one of the three places metioned in a previous post to get a code or something or is that included on the pass they give us on the first day?

Are their photographers stationed all over the parks and they take our pictures when we ask?

Yes, you can now buy the CD either at the park (at the 3 locations mentioned) or online at home. You can view them before you decide whether to buy the CD or just buy the photos individually through Disney.

Your code to get online will be on the back of the Photopass card.

There are Photopass photographers at the entrances to the parks and other various locations (character meet & greets etc...)

There are places to have youer digital camera cards put onto a CD. Here is my word of advice though.... Depending on how many photos your card holds use a person to transfer rather than the Kodak machines. I cannot remember how many the machine can put on a CD but the people can do more (and they are both 12.95) I use two cards and have them burnt onto one CD. ALthough warning withthis make sure the person doing the burning for you unserstands this or they will charge you for 2 CDS and will not "fix" it once it is done.

But when did you do that? They changed it to no enhancements on the CD about a month ago. This is a recent change.

Well, there's your answer then. They just changed the policy. They no longer add enhancements to the photos that are put on the CD. But if you buy them individually from Disney or at their online website, you can add the enhancements.

This new policy took effect about the end of May.

HERE's a link to buying the CD online and it states in 2 places that "Character signatures and borders are not included on the CD, even if you made edits to the photos in your account on DisneyPhotoPass.com".

I love the Photopass! It's just DH & myself so while I do enjoy laughing at our many "self-portraits" (you know, the one where your heads are together & then one of you takes the camera as far as your arm will go & then it's just your heads?!) we take throughout our trip, it was nice to have someone else take a great photo of the two of us together with a background!!
