I need help! We are planning a trip in September and need tips on how to save money on a suite. DH wants to stay at Animal Kingdom Lodge in a 1 bedroom suite with a savannah view. Trying to get it cheaper but wow is it pricey. Any tips would be great!

Are you pricing a suite or a 1 bedroom villa? Depending on when you want to go, you can get a villa for 35 or 40% off the regular price, so you should get it for around $300 a night, possibly less. You can get a 1BR villa in either the lodge or the Kidani villas.

If that is what you're trying already, then that's about it unless you want to think about renting points from a DVC member, which is whole OTHER discussion. Usually if you can get a good discount, the rental price is similar to the cash price.

Thanks for the quick reply! You actually helped me out alot so far. He wants to stay in the lodge and is totally agains the villa's at Kindani. Not sure why I'm fine with the Villa. Question, are the other villa's actually located in the lodge itself? If so I may be able to push that option with him.

Yes, if you are pricing rooms on the Disney website, you can pick Animal Kingdom Lodge - Jambo as your resort of choice (there is also a "value" choice there, but you wouldn't get a sleeper chair and I don't know about the view).

PRice room only and not a package, so you can see the cost per night. When do you want to go?

As a DVC member, and having recently stayed at Kidani, I would go for Jambo house.

Kidani is beautiful but I didnt like the fact that the quick service resturant was not in our building. You had to either take the shuttle, theme park bus, or walk about 10 to 15 min to the other building to get to the quick service resturant.

Another thing about this resort is the bus service is PAINFULLY slow. Coupled with the fact that the 2 resorts share a bus, you are always climbing over people to get on or off a bus or finding yourself standing alot of your rides to the parks. With that said, I would definately consider driving to the parks.

Great advice so far, I'm exploring those options right now. Also do you know where in the lodge the villas are? We've stayed there before but I didn't see them. Are they ground level, above...

Any feedback would seal the sale with DH. He is stuck on staying at the lodge!

If I'm not mistaken,

the villias in the "lodge" or the original Animal Kingdom Lodge the Jambo house are on the 5th floor.

Kidania is the new section of Animal Kingdom Lodge and all of the rooms here are villias.... studio, 1 br, 2 br.

i would rent points! i got a studio for 3 nights for way less than the rack rate of one night. check out the dvc board and good luck!

If you can rent from a member, the DVC points are 29 a night Sun-Thurs and 32 a night Fri & Sat - so if you pay $10 per point, it would be $290 a night and $320 a night on the weekend for a savannah view.
