Tip for Garden Grocer

I know that this has been asked before, but from what I have read, no one has placed as large (expensive) of an order as I am going to.

Anyway, I have seen 15 - 20% as a reply.

My order will be over $250 and I am thinking that $50 is a bit too much to leave for a tip even though I will not be charged the $10 delivery fee.

Any suggestions?

Yes, $50 definitely seems like too much to me. We tip well, but I would never tip that much for a grocery delivery, after a $10 delivery fee. I don't know, $15??

Think about it from the perspective of the guy or gal delivering your groceries. The $250+ worth of groceries means more work for this person. I don't think $50 is unreasonable--you're still saving money over buying the groceries on site and you're paying a fair tip to the person who struggled to provide you a great service by lugging a large amount of groceries into your resort. Just as you wouldn't have a problem leaving a 20% tip for a $250 meal, why would it be different for a grocery delivery service?

Last year I did Garden Grocer ( I ws extremely pleased by the way) and my bill was a tad under $100. I tipped the guy $25. They had my groceries there exactly when they said, they brought them into the room, and unloaded them onto the counter for me. They also called when the driver was about 10 minutes away, which was also very helpful.
