Day 16 - Cinema and Cirque
Today we were going to spend the morning by the pool and get things packed up for our move to Old Key West tomorrow. DD, DH & I went swimming just after 8am but DS didnt want to come and just spent the morning in his room. I later discovered he stayed up until one minute past 12 last night just to see what it was like so of course he is tired this morning although he is claiming that it had no effect on him what so ever. After we finished swimming DH & I packed up most of our stuff.
We left the villa at around noon and stopped at the McDonalds on site and had some lunch. We then decided to check out a few resorts and went to look at the All Stars and Pop, out of the two we preferred the look of Pop as it just felt newer and brighter. Although reading how busy it was during free dining we might go for one of the smaller ones if we stayed there. We then went to look at PO Riverside and French Quarter and of the two of these we preferred Riverside but again its hard to judge on one quick visit. We did some pin trading at the resorts and managed to get some great pins. DS got the 3rd in a series of Stitch Lanyard pins that he has been after since last year and DD got the second in her Pirates lanyard series. I also got some unusual limited edition ones.
It was now about 3pm so we went off to DTD for our movie Zoom (starring Tim Allen) which was at 3:30pm. We grabbed some cokes and popcorn for DD and settled down to watch the movie. It wasnt bad and passed an hour and a half. We got out of the cinema at just after 5pm and after a rest room stop DD got changed into her Jasmine outfit which was what she wanted to wear to Cirque.
There was a few minutes until they let us in so we had a look round the shop where I juggled not one, not two, no not even three but drum roll .four - yes four balls. Every one was suitably impressed at my hidden talent and some poor lad tried to do the same and nearly took someones eye out as all the balls went in every direction. Sadly there were no talent scouts from the show present so my chance to run away to the circus didnt happen.
We went into the theatre just after half 5 and got some more popcorn and coke while DH and I had some coffee. We found our seats which were in block 203 row GG and waited for the show to start with DS asking me how long to go, about every 10 seconds. The pre show started and at 6pm the main show started. Rant time - 15 minutes into the performance there were still people being shown to their seats. Now Im sorry but if a show starts at 6pm and they ask you to get there 30 minutes earlier why are they still coming in at 6:15pm (rant over)
It was a fantastic show, very artistic and with so much going on that sometimes you didnt know where to look. The Chinese girls with the Diablos (sp) got the biggest applause and rightly so as they were brilliant. They looked about 8 or 9 but were probably quite a bit older. Our category 2 seats were very good with a great view of the stage, but the one thing that DH said was that last year when he and DD sat in the category 1 seats the show seemed more personal as you could read the facial expressions of the performers.
After a restroom stop we left the theatre just before 8pm and DS & DD didnt want to stop anywhere to eat but were both hungry so we got them a takeaway McDonalds. (Yes I know thats twice in one day but before anyone reaches for the phone to call social services, we are on holiday and DSs Autism makes him such a fussy eater that you sometimes have to go to places where you know he will eat something.) DH & I had a Subway, which we ate back at the villa.
We all chilled and watched some TV before bed at around 10pm
Tomorrow - The move to OKW and the start of the Dining Plan with Crystal Palace for dinner
