Tink strategy:

I think the Train Depot Rope Drop would be somewhat of an advantage simply because it is closer to the Character Hall of Fame than the "Fantasyland Rope Drop".I think the number of Guests waiting there would be smaller also because that location has to be accessed either by the WDW Railroad or the Tomorrowland to Toontown Pathway and a lot of Guests may not be familiar with the Train Depot Rope Drop and how to access it.:)

Can someone please post the map of MK and where the rope drops are located? I know it's been posted before and I can't find it...:confused3
THANKS!!!

Anyone tried this late in the day? Dinnertime or evening? I'd assume they cut the line based on the closing time and factoring in the wait time but wanted to see if there is a better way at all?

These wait times are during a slow week too which is the lousy part!

Okay where is the Train Depot Rope Drop in reference to the Toontown Hall of Fame Tent? I'm confused. Doesn't everyone go in the same entrance?

My friend just came back and she has a 6 year old daughter. She said everytime she went by the line it was over 2 hours. So she had a plan B. She took a bag of glittery dust (bought at the craft store) and while her daughter was sleeping she made a trail of dust that led from her bed to the balcony and left the balcony sliding door cracked. When her daughter woke up she told her tinkerbell must've visited her during the night because tinkerbell had really wanted to meet her. She said her daughter was ELATED the rest of the trip and never said anything about going back to wait in line because she said "other boys and girls didn't get a special visit from tinkerbell". I thought this was a cute idea. Although who knows how she cleaned up the glitter/dust! :)

LOVING this idea because there is NO WAY we will be waiting 3 hours to meet Tinkerbell! I will have their autograph books out on the table in the room with Tink's signature and a little sticker too.

Thanks!

I plan to try the train station rope drop by going on the red path from Tomorrowland. But my memory is fuzzy on where the character lines are. I assume I can follow the crowd!

We will be at MK on a Sunday first, but with a 11:30 CP lunch, so that might not be the time to try. We will also be there on our last day, a Friday. Hopefully we will get so much done on Sunday that we won't mind the wait on Friday. Well DH will mind the wait regardless. I hate to waste those morning hours. Maybe we will skip rope drop and spend an afternoon waiting and relaxing after having ridden lots of rides...

My kids already know about it and are anxiously awaiting so I can't pretend it's not there.

Part of me wishes I would NOT have read this post today....:lmao:

I have not heard of this fairy take over yet ;)

I can see myself waiting and waiting and waiting in line :sad1:
We are going in January and the girls love Tink...so I have to take them to meet her!!!

I am a little disappointed about Minnie being gone, has she moved somewhere else in MK?

:scared:

We're going Nov 29-Dec4th, and we haven't mapped out all of our days yet. I know we have breakfast on the 1st at Askerhaus, so we'll be in Epcot the chunk of that day.

As much as my 3yr old daughter will swoon to meet the fairies, I won't be taking 3 hours to do so. We waited over an hour at Ariel's grotto back in April, and we all discovered what our limits are:rotfl2: My kids couldn't get into Minnie's cottage in April because A) it was over an hour to get through, then B) was closed for refurb. So if we get to do that instead, my daughter will be thrilled.

We're staying at Bonnet Creek, so I assume the best time to hit MK is non EMH mornings? And I believe the only morning that has MK EMH is Dec 4th, which shouldn't affect us.

I am interested in figuring out the difference in rd locations? So there is one at the MK train station/Main Street entrance AND one AT Toontown? How does that work? You take the train to the back of Toontown/Fantasyland?

:confused3

Thanks for those updates, people

I have a suggestion for some of you. This may not work with really young kids that need to go back to the hotel early in the evening for bed, but instead of going at rope drop why not go at night?

Our last visit (and our next one coming up! ) was during the week of Thanksgiving (very, very crowded). We visited ToonTown after dark and it was always deserted! We rode Barnstormer 3 or 4 times without getting off and were the only ones on the ride. Every time we went to that area at that time of day, we felt like the only people in the park.

I'm not sure how late the characters are there, but I thought they were until closing, if so, I am betting that you could get in and out without too much hassle. That will be the way we try to do it, anyway. Maybe some of you with really young kids could make this the last thing you do and then ride the train to the front entrance to leave??

The path from Tommorrowland brings you to the train station in Toontown, so anyone taking the train to Toontown will be in the same area as those coming on the Tomorrowland trail.

I think this access point will be better than those lining up at the Toontown/Fantasyland entrance.

Does anyone know if the Train will stop in Toontown before Toontown opens?

The Train DOES stop at Toontown before Toontown opens.:) I usually hop on the Train in Frontierland after riding BTMRR and head over to Toontown for Rope Drop.:)

If you are not familiar with the Tomorrowland to Toontown path, just take the Train over to Toontown and when you get off there you will see the Rope Drop area. The other Rope Drop is at the "front" of Toontown and is not as close to the Character Hall of Fame.:)

Ahhh, I thought so...(hadn't done that in a while, so wasn't sure if there was a separate drop there or if you could even get on the train that early)

Is there any advantage/disadvantage between those routes to Toontown? For example, waiting for the train as opposed to just jogging along the Tomorrowland path?

Just trying to envision what we'll be doing, assuming we get to MK at RD.

there are 2 entrances to toontown. one is the most commonly-used one which is located near the mad tea party. the other one is from the path from tomorrowland that runs behind the tomorrowland speedway. if you look on the map, you'll see a small path that runs behind the speedway and goes from toontown (near the train entrance) and comes out next to space mountain.

my understanding is that the fairies are located in the hall of fame tent, which is located between mickey and minnie's houses.

there is a rope drop at the entrance of the park when the park opens (usually around 8:45-8:50). usually (and maybe always - i'm not sure) toontown opens 1 hour after the park opens, so they have a different rope drop for that section (usually around 9:45-10:00). i'm not sure about the train. i know you can take the train to toontown from the main entrance (although it will stop in frontierland first) but i'm not sure if it stops there before 10:00. someone above said it did.

There is really no advantage either way other than walking will be quicker, but the Train is more FUN!:)

Thanks for the additional info. I could make a spreadsheet for every possible scenario and still bank on a wait, I know. This is our 2nd trip with toddlers, and prior to going with them last April, I hadn't been to WDW in a decade. A little rusty on the routes and tricks :thumbsup2

Just thought I'd throw in our 2 cents worth... We did this last thursday for Abbys bday. We were there over an hour after rope drop due to a BBB appt.

It took about 90 minutes, the people were all VERY nice about kids having to leave line for potty breaks, etc. The meet/greet was VERY nice and was definately a highlight for Abby who is a HUGE tink fan.

The only other warning - we went late in the afternoon one day and they were DONE for the day --- so those of you thinking you'll be able to do it late may not find them there anymore!

Finally, Finally, we see people leaving and it was a freaking VIP family of 6 with a park tour person that didn't even have to wait in the damn line!! I really hope they had to pay through the nose for that!

Yes, they did pay out the nose for that! It's $150.00 an hour plus tax and tip. There is also a minimum time requirement. (I think it's 5 hours?)

I've heard it's amazing if you can afford it! I know someone who did it just for 1/2 a day and they learned so many short cuts and secrets.

If all else fails, maybe you can just plan to spend a fair amount of time in line and come up with ways to make time go fast- play games, make new friends...

I went by myself with a book to read to pass the time and ended up making a new friend in the line!

I don't know if it's open during MVMCP, but when we were there for MNSSHP last year, we headed back to Toontown and waited in the shop for 7 pm to come. We immediately got on the princess line with DGD3, and she was first in line. Sleeping Beauty met her at the door and walked her in. She was so excited, and the Photopass guy got photos from the front, and DH got photos from the back of them. Maybe this will work??

For my part, having read this thread, I'm not telling DGD about this just yet. We are going for Thanksgiving, but I think we'll wait for the next trip, when all the excitement has died down a bit.

Hey Angiebelle, we took dd to the BBB on October 30th for her birthday and you were working, dd had Connie, I think. I just wanted to let you know that my whole family thought that you have a beautiful voice. DD's hair lasted four days and she would have left it in longer if I wouldn't have made her wash her hair.
