mikeymars,
I think that's a good idea. I would suggest getting down to the gangway 10 minutes or so before the "approximate all-ashore" time which will be listed in the Personal Navigator, so you can be among the first off the ship. There will be a line of cabs outside on the pier. Just let the driver know that you want to make the 9:00am ferry at Red Hook. If it looks like its going to be close, maybe offer him some cash if he gets you there on time.
I wish I had paid attention to when people actually got off the ship on our last cruise. I could then give you a better idea of what to expect. As it turned out we took our time eating breakfast after the immigration check, and then got showered and dressed. We didn't leave the ship until after 10:00am or so, since we were just heading downtown to Charlotte Amalie.
One thing that just occurred to me is that on the printable confirmation you can view on the DCL website, they did list both arrival and "ashore" times, I think. Sadly, I don't have a current reservation with which I can check this. If you go to the DCL website, click on the luggage icon (qet a quote) on the upper righthand side of the page, then select "Check your reservation". If you enter your reservation number, you'll be taken to an HTML page listing the details. Somewhere on this page is a link for a printable version. This page has the itinerary listed, with arrival and departure times, and I think I remember that they added the approximate ashore times to this at some point. The last version of it that I printed out only has the arrival time listed. The St. Thomas arrival time is 6:30am. Of course, if you didn't book directly with DCL, you may not have the correct reservation # and you'll have to have your TA do this, but I think the same information is in the printed confirmation which is sent after the deposit is received. Again, this might be sent to your TA.
