Our flight gets in at 2:50 pm and we will be taking ME to ASSports. I understand we will need to go from ASSports to TTC to catch a bus to Fort Wilderness to see HDDR. There is a show at 6:15, can we make it? I don't want to be crazy rushed, but it seems doable to me. This is Nov.9, BTW.

TIA!

I would say so, you will probably make it just on time. Figure an hour to hour an a half to get to your resort. So around 4/430, check in and head off right from there, I would think you could be there for 5:40-6 on good travel or just right on time at the least. :)

There are no FW buses at TTC.:)

The easiest route is to take a Magic Kingdom bus from Sports and then a boat from MK to FW.:)

Pioneer Hall is only a 2-3 minute walk from the FW Dock.

There aren't any buses that go from hotels to the TTC. What you could do is take the bus to MK and then take the boat to FtW - the boat dock is a short walk to Pioneer Hall.

I thought it sounded funky (stayed at AllStars a few times and have never seen a TTC bus!) but it's what I read on a description of HDDR and how to get there.

So, doable time-wise?

Doable if everything "falls into place",but there are a lot of variables:

Length of wait at OIA for a DME bus
Length of check-in line at Sports
Length of wait at Sports for MK bus
etc.:)

What happens if your flight is delayed a couple of hours? I wouldn't plan it for your arrival day.

Ok, considering booking the 8:00 instead of 6:30. If we do that, and then the stars align and it all goes smooth as silk, what would the odds be of them letting us bump up to 6:15?

I don't know what the policy is, but that's a busy weekend with Veteran's Day and the Wine & Dine Half Marathon so HDD could be fully booked.

Another thing to consider is if you are delayed and miss the show the penalty is the entire pre-paid amount.

Aaaauuurrgghh...I see my best intentions going up in smoke! HDDR really doesn't fit any other night of our plans, and I'm not thrilled with the thought of dinner so late (8:00), and not getting back to the resort til 11:00/midnight after traveling. Sugar, guess I'll have to think on it some more. I was just thinking it would be a fun kick-off to our trip without using a pass, but still getting in the Disney spirit.

I never book something that expensive on the day of a flight. All it takes is a flight being delayed by an hour to make a real mess of things.

If it was me, I would book it. I would keep a close eye on the weather forecast and make sure that there is no chance for a weather related delay. If you see rain, cancel it the night before and get your refund. For small delays, like long lines to check in, I would look up a taxi company to take me from the All Stars to Wilderness. It would be under $15 and it would probably cut your travel time to less than 30 minutes.

It could be a great way to start your vacation if it won't stress you out too much.

I have had a flight delayed for over an hour not due to weather, which caused us to miss our connection, and that caused us to arrive at Disney 3 hours AFTER we were originally supposed to. None of that was caused by weather.

HDDR is a prepay reservation. Which means if the OP misses it, they forfeit the WHOLE amount. That is just way too much money to risk.

I had a several hour delay that was due to the pilot getting sick from food poisoning during the night. I have had delays due to bad weather at the airport my plane was scheduled to fly in from and I have had delays due to mechanical issues.

This is definitely something the OP needs to think about. I always fly direct from NY and it's a pretty short flight for me. I have never had a unscheduled delay, in fact 75% of the time I get to MCO ahead of schedule.

I already knew that they might lose there prepaid amount. I am aware of the policies. Some people are also able to accept, like myself, that there might be a small chance that they would lose the money spent and see it as riskier to arrive late afternoon on their vacation with nothing exciting to do until the next day. I'm not saying I would be happy to potentially throw $$ out the window but if it happened it would not ruin my trip.

I was simply providing the OP with 'what I would do'. Obviously they need to read through all opinions and form their own plan.

a taxi will not help with time to HDDR as you will have to take a bus after cab to other end of campground. no car parking even cabs or handicapped near HDDR. boat from MK is fastest route as it docks a few steps from HDDR. the walk is about a mile from where cab would leave you off
