For the Priceline veterans - how far out do you start bidding on hotels?

I am looking for a very cheap place for us to spend the night in our first night (we won't be checking in until around 8 or 9 at night, and will be leaving early enough to drive to Disney and hit Animal Kingdom when it opens, and then have lunch at Whispering Canyon Cafe, and we'll check in at WL then), so just a place to sleep and shower, basically.

This isn't until December though. Am I planning too far ahead to get a good price on Priceline? What is a good time to start trying on Priceline?

No, you're definitely not too early. We usually try Priceline as soon as we know we need a room through them. For our trip to California last year we got rooms more than 10 months in advance. We've also used them last minute with success. Usually we book 3-4 months ahead. I don't think there's any rhyme or reason with timing for Priceline bids. Just remember that you may have to try a few times before you get your bid accepted.

I tried PL today for a couple of different dates in October and got what I offered.

The first is the Renaissance Orlando Hotel on 10/03/03 for $31.00. The is the Marriott hotel (MCO airport), 2 rooms at $28.00 each.

I was shocked that I got them so easy!

Hope this helps!
