Timing for Chef Mickey's

We want to have dinner at Chef Mickey's on our first night. But that is also the only night of our stay that there will be fireworks at MK--at 7:00pm. Can you please help me formulate a plan that allows us to eat at Chef Mickey's and not miss the fireworks (we could either watch from the beach at our resort--Poly or from somewhere at CR)? Or should I give up on Chef Mickey's?

If you can reschedule Chef Mickey's for another night during your stay, do so, and try to book seating instead for dinner at Ohana's. Then when it's time to be seated, ask for seating at which you can watch the Magic Kingdom fireworks show. We ate at Ohana's our last night two years ago, and were pleasantly surprised as we did not realize it had a the best view of MK.

Since the fireworks last only about 20 minutes, you could schedule Chef Mickey's for 7:30pm and watch the fireworks from the 4th floor observation deck (same floor as Chef Mickey's) and head to the restaurant right after the show.

Now that I've reread the schedule, I realize that the event at 7pm is Spectromagic--that is the parade, right? And there are no fireworks scheduled at MK at all during our stay (11/15-11/22). Is it likely that fireworks will be scheduled later or is it true that there just will not be fireworks? And is it worth re-arranging our dinner plans to catch Spectromagic? Since there is (as of now) just one opportunity to watch that parade the whole week we will be there, it will probably be very crowded and that makes me think it might be better to avoid MK entirely that night. Would we be missing a lot if we didn't see Spectromagic during our stay?

I think that according to tourguidemike that spectromagic is held 11/15, 11/18, and 11/22. and fireworks 11/15, 11/16, 11/18, 11/20, & 11/22. I wouldn't skip spectro if you have never seen it.

We had a PS at Chef Mickeys for 7:00pm and fireworks that night were at 8:30pm... we were just on time for the start at the observation deck located on the same floor as Chef Mickey's.

The music is piped in and the monorail whizzes by while you watch.. it was great.

The onlything that was weird was from this angle the fireworks do not explode over the castle... the castle is way left and they explode over space mountain instead.... we had situated ourselves to see the castle but when the fireworks started we had to walk down about 20 feet to the right to get an unobstructed view of Space Mountain.

I guess from the front of the park it looks like the fireworks are over the castle?

I think you should get a PS for 7:30pm and see the fireworks first.

bill&kids,

Thank you. The information at Tourguide Mike is more complete than at the Disney website. The times for fireworks are not listed at disney.com. I can see that there will be more opportunities to see the parade and watch the fireworks so I don't have to change my first night dinner plans.
