First off let me say I LOVE Disney! And I love tent camping! So I'm thinking why not combine the two right? My husband has never been..well anywhere :confused3 , and I want to introduce him to the world. So my question is.. If you could go to WDW any time of the year you wanted, when would you go? Nothing holding you back...No work..no school. I'm hoping that he'll love it as much as I do! :lovestruc

Thanks

We are 'not' tent campers, but we enjoy the Fort in April (not Easter week), end of Oct. and first 2 weeks of Dec. Those weeks should not be too warm for tent camping or too cold (Dec.) although the weather pattern can vary. It has been very 'hot' end of Oct. and very 'cold' first part of Dec. (2010).

But, in reality, we would go anytime except Jan & July (lots of tour groups), March (Spring Breaks) Aug (very hot) or any of the holidays. That's just us though, as we can go anytime of the year.

Good luck with your hubby and camping! Just be sure and start him off with cooler weather ;)

For tent campers the best weather/crowd time is late April (after Easter season is past and the rates drop) till the end of May and the month of October (weekends usually fill up with locals coming in for a 3-day visit). Days are warm, nights are moderate, and crowds are lower (Halloween time and MickeysNotSoScary nights are busy).

That's what I call the shoulder season and it's a great time to be at the Fort. :dance3:

Thought I would just share my experiences of the different months we have been! We have been to Disneyland in March(hotel), Walt Disney World JUNE(camped Popup with fans/no AC several times & Hotel), JULY (camped Popup with fans/no AC several times, Camped Travel Trailer/with AC, stayed in Hotel ) OCTOBER(hotel).

March (Disneyland)& October(Walt Disney world) was light Jacket weather for a few of the mornings. I remember in March wearing jeans and short sleeves for the most part. It seemed very cool! Actually Walt Disney in October was warmer than Disneyland in March.

Last October 2013 I took long pants but wore knee length shorts most of the time. Alot of people were still wearing their shorts and tank tops for the warmer days. We left a few early mornings that were cool and I started the day with a very light weight jacket with my shorts and then had to take the jacket off by lunch. I don't rememer having any rain for the first time(which was nice), but they were calling for a hurricane before we left.

In October the crowd level was down from what I am used to in July, especially on July 4th! LOL! But...I read it could be bad the weekend of Halloween. But don't be fooled that there is no crowd in October because we still had to try to catch some rides early in the morning to beat the long lines. I had never been in the fall and did enjoy all the fall decorations and some of the fall cupcakes! LOL!

We stayed at All Star Sports over October vacation 2012 and I only swam in the pool once because the water was cold and the heaters had not been turned on yet. We like to swim and go to water parks in the summer but I didn't get to do any of that!

June is usually cooler than July and August but is still good swimming weather. Down side of June is that it can be a rainy month. July is hot (great for swimming) quick rain showers that don't usually last last very long, crowds over the 4th of course are terrible and worse at Mk than Epcot! Epcot handles the crowd level better for July 4th and it is better to seee MK festivities July 3rd, Epcot July 4th! July is hot and you have to work around the hot weather by taking the afternoon breaks for lunch inside, a show or an afternoon at the pool! I guess we are just used to having to go in July and so its not as big a deal for us as others. All the festivites are great!

Park Hours can be different in Spring & Fall than Summer.

So even with the rain, (I'm not tent camping & don't really know when Floridas rainy season is) I guess I would still choose the month of June as my favorite time to vacation! Because of warmer weather(not to hot but I can swim & for sure wear my shorts), summer hours, hopefully no hurricanes to worry about! I hate the cold, I hate wearing jackets, and would rather be hot any day! LOL! But June is a little better! LOL!

What ever month you pick you will have a great time and work around the weather! Just be prepared for your cold, hot or rainy days, with your jackets, ponchos, water in the parks(no matter what month), blankets or fans for your tent, or whatever you need!

Leave if a hurricane is coming! LOL!

Thank you all so much!! I just got him to agree to go! So it looks like we'll be at the fort after Easter! I'm beyond excited! I've only ever been during the summer months, so hopefully this will be a nice change. Now to keep it a secret for a year as we aren't telling the kids. :woohoo:

Around Dec 12th to about Dec 20th... Love seeing the Christmas Lights and decorations... The weather is doable...

Our favorite time of the year to go camping at the Fort is Christmas time! Everyone decorates their sites and golf carts. The atmosphere is so much fun!
