timeshare promo....

does anyone know if there are places that do the promo offers without a credit card?

i would like to do a timeshare promotion. i meet all the qualifications EXCEPT that i don't have a major credit card! the bank card i have is a mastercard, but it also says debit on it.

seems silly to me. i was even told that it didn't have to be an open account, it could be an old card as long as it has my name on it!! i got rid of credit cards about 6 years ago and NO, i didn't keep the old cards on closed accounts!! lol

We've used our Debit cards before, we have always been told that as long as the Visa/MC logo is on it then it counts.

so do they just SAY it has to be a real credit card, no debits or prepaids, but then when you show up they don't actually turn you away??? or are there just certain ones that accept debit cards with the logo.
i would hate to show up thinking my card will work, then get turned away!!

honestly, timeshare promos are a waste of time. there are lots of options for discounted accommodations in the orlando area. if you've got tons of vacation time and don't mind throwing away several hours, then knock yourself out, but i wouldn't bother with those personally.

Ours has the Visa logo on it, that's all they wanted to see. They simply look at the name to compare with your ID and that's all. However, our debit card does not say debit. they don't do anything with the card, just look at it.

We do these pretty regularly, because we own with Shell when we stay at the property they always want to set us up with a "review". We go because it's about an hour and then we leave with a gift. Normally Disney dollars. We have gotten pretty good about saying "no thanks" tho so we aren't usually held up too long.

This!! When we were first married and desperate for ANY extra pennies we went to a time share presentation. That was absolutely one of the worst experiences we have ever had They finally gave us the promised money, but not until we were there a few hours , took our tour, talked to different levels of management and were completely intimidated and exhausted. We decided then and there we would "eat grass " before we would do that again We could have left before they let us go, of course, but we were determined they were going to "pay up" After all this time, I just did the DVC pkg. tour for $40, but that was the easiest money I've ever gotten

We did a couple when we were younger-- Sheraton Vistana V illages and a Wyndham. We got two free two day Universal tickets for the first and a three bedroom condo for $99 a night for the second. Neither presentation was bad. We just told them upfront we were only in it for the freebies, and they didn't bother with the tough sell. I would never buy a timeshare.
