Thinking of doing a New York trip to see Times Square (Disney Store there too). Anyone recommend a good hotel with parking that is a decent price within walking distance of Times Square?

Other option is no car and use public transportation from south Jersey but don’t know where to even start figuring that out.

Most hotels offer parking for around $50 a night. They have valet service with a parking garage
You can self park at the port authority bus terminal which would be cheaper.

The holiday inn on 9th ave has parking, hotel will be reasonable parking not so much. Also depends when you are thinking of going. You may do better finding parking on an app like SpotHero.

I’m in South Jersey too. We find it easiest to drive to the NJ transit train station in Hamilton (near Trenton). The train station is nice...clean and safe. The train takes you to Penn Station in NY. We have stayed at the Millenium and the Manhattan. Last trip.... we stayed at the Marriott Marquis with a Times Square view. It’s not cheap to stay at any of these hotels, but they are right in Times Square, so very convenient to walk to most things.

Also check prices of transit. For us we drive when with the teens as it works out much cheaper. We drive if we aren’t partying and it is the 2 of us or we stay in a hotel.
We only take the train when we plan on cocktails. Lol.
I hate the train so boring. Rather be in my car if it is possible

We stayed at the Fairfield Inn & Suites New York Manhattan/Times Square last year. It was a block or two away from everywhere we wanted to see including Times Square. We thought it was reasonable (for manhattan) and for us the parking cost was about the same as parking in Trenton and taking the regional rail to Penn Station, so we paid the parking at the hotel and didn't have to worry about train schedules. We'd stay again.

We stayed at Embassy Suites Secaucus NJ. New Jersey Transit bus was a minute away and the trip to Penn Station was approximately 15 minutes. Parking was free, many restaurants within walking distance as well as a 24 hour Walmart. Fabulous breakfast included!

Even hotels that don't have parking onsite will have valet parking that uses nearby parking sites. We stay in the Marriott Marquis and while we don't drive (train and taxi), they have a parking garage. There are multiple parking lots/garages very close to Times Square. They aren't cheap ($50+/day or so). A lot of people stay in NJ and take the train over.

Check on a one-way car rental that you can return near public transit. It may be less expensive than parking.

New Yorker here. I'll try to help. You can take the train from Jersey into times Square to Penn Station. I would try Hotel tonight or express deals for a hotel room, especially near tines Square. Be careful, aware and keep your valuables under wrap. If the hotel is downscale be extremely careful of pimps, and other activity. It's a lot better and a lot of people say that Times Square is Disneyfied. Whatever that means?

Hilton Times Square- they have valet parking that was reasonable, nice hotel, right in Times Square close to everything

DD and her friends just stayed at The Wellington just a couple of blocks from Times Square. They took the train into the city, so I don't know about parking. I do know that the hotel was clean, safe, nicely decorated, close to everything, and reasonably priced. They said the service was really good too.

The Marriott Marquis right in the heart of Times Square has a parking garage, but the cost is outrageous; $90 a day for valet parking.

We stayed at Sheraton Times Square last year and I can't imagine having a rental car! Traffic moves so slow and the cost to park is insane! We used Uber, but many times decided it would be quicker to walk. We also used one of those open-top tour busses and it managed to get us all over NYC. We would just get on & off whenever we wanted (3 day pass) and that eliminated the need for a rental car or Uber. If you do get the bus tour, just buy it from the company directly. We bought ours at the hotel and needed to stand in line to get an actual ticket form the buss company & no one wanted to help us because those guys didn't get their commission. It's all the same price anyway.....

I agree, but we sometimes have a car in NYC because we live in MD and drive there. That is why when we drive, I prefer to get a hotel near a Path train station in New Jersey. Parking is a lot cheaper!

The Manhattan at Times Square...is budget friendly, not right in Times Square but very close, definitely walk able, close to the subway...I'm not sure about parking, stayed there a couple years ago and we did not have a rental car.

Remember tolls entering NYC when doing calculations.
We drove into Times Square once-frankly it was 1 time too many. Traffic, cost, it was craziness.
We stayed at the Hilton Times Square, LOVE the location. Used Spothero and found a spot on 42nd, but 2 long blocks west, for $120 for 3 nights. It was stupid to rent a car, fuel costs, parking costs, plus tolls to drive from Newark to Times Square now that we know a train or bus will take us there for less than $20 a person. Rookie mistake.

Do whatever you can not to take a car into NYC.

Look into "vacations" on Hotwire. We were able to get our flight and hotel for 5days/ 4 nights at the Sheraton Times Square for four of us for $1700.

If you use Shopkicks, book through their app. This also helped us earn enough points for a $50 Disney giftcard.
