Times on Disney Cruise?

How many times have you been on the cruise and is it worth the money?

We went on our 1st Disney cruise this past February. It was the 4 night cruise in addition to WDW. We really loved it and thought it was much more relaxing that the parks. We loved it so much that we booked onboard for a 7 night cruise this upcoming December.

With that said the cruise is $$$$$ and while we are really splurging to go on this 7 day it will probably be many years before we can afford to cruise Disney again. We might try some other lines when they get older but we can do a week at the parks much cheaper than the 7 day DCL cruise.

We have gone twice. The kids and I loved the cruise. My wife isn't really a "cruise" person. The movement of the ship bothers her.

I can't really speak to the cost of the cruise since we used our DVC points both times.

One and yes it is definatly worth the money, especially if you have children (even teens).

I've only been on one 3-day cruise, and I think it is worth it. I had a wonderful time.

We've been twice, and are talking about doing one again in 2008. It's worth it, in my opinion. Before we went the first time, I was afraid I'd be bored after the first day or so. There are so many things to do and see, that's not really a problem.

Once, and while I'm glad I did it, I wouldn't do it again at those prices! I was happier with the nighttime activities on Royal Caribbean and the price is much nicer as well.

We're going on DCL cruise #8 in November. It's wonderful and well worth the money and/or DVC points. By the way, it's just DH and me.

We've been on the DCL four times, with a fifth time scheduled for October and it is worth every last penny! We've also been on Norwegian Cruise Line, Royal Caribbean and Carnival and Disney is leaps and bounds above the rest in every area.

My dad always says, you get what you pay for when it comes to these cruises. You won't regret booking a Disney Cruise.

We are going on a Disney Cruise in the future. We'll probably do a 4-day cruise because of the cost. If we like cruising, we'll try Royal Carribean when our kids are older. The only reason we aren't doing Royal Carribean now is because of the ages of our kids, and they won't be old enough to do lots of the sports/adventure activities that Royal Carrib. offers (things like Rock Climbing, Surfing the Wave Pool).

3 times-a 4 day and 2-7 days. paid cash the first time, used our dvc points the other 2.

i think it is very costly but well worth it to try at least once. that said-i felt the quality/service has slipped a bit over the past few years (and this was echoed by the majority of people i participated with in a 'repeat dcl cruiser' focus group'-the line did a random selection of people on board and paid us to do a focus group for a couple of hours). but the line is working on it.

i think it shows great customer service and quality of product when a cruise line's biggest customer base is return cruisers (and this is disney-they have the highest number of repeat cruisers in the industry).

we've done disney, norweigan, and holland america (which we did not like-very kid unfriendly despite their advertising campaigns).

it's costly but when you consider the quality of the food, the incredible kid's programs, the entertainment, and that their staterooms are much larger than rooms in comparable categories on other lines-you get your money's worth.

OMG, DH and I feel it is very much worth the money...like the old adage goes...you DO get what you pay for. We decided to go on a Disney cruise as an extension of our Disney experience and wanted to try something new. Go over to the Cruise Line forum board and you will glean so much info from there. That was my original DIS home and still have close friends over there. I am posting a pic taken atop Paradise Point on St. Thomas. The Disney Magic is docked in the middle of the three ships.

Twice and we won't be returning. First time was a 4 day and we had a good time *though a lot of that we decided was having the inlaws to help take care of the kids so we could dive* but the 2nd was a 7 day Eastern and it was a disaster and a waste of money in our opinion.

We booked 2 connecting cat 8's, mid ship and we were fine with it. A few weeks before we left we were informed we had received a comp upgrade to 2 connecting cat 4 family suites. Well that was wonderful UNTIL we figured they were the 2nd and 3rd suites from the front of the ship. We had sea sickness most of the trip and it was windy which closed down the goofy pool and sent all the kids into the Mickey pool which isn't big enough for that many kids. There were 1100 kids on our sailing which meant the kids clubs were a zoo and my kids hated going with all of the kids. They had the movie theatre that was showing movies we'd already seen a dozen times like Pirates. We couldn't find much to do with our kids during the day and since they didn't enjoy the kids club and the pool was way to crowded it left us in our cabins watching expensive movies. The night before we docked in St. Maarten I was ready to pack up and spend the $$ to fly home.

We'll never do it again! For the cost it was definitely not worth it to us. We paid over 4K for that trip and hated almost all of it. We did love the stops and Castaway Cay was great but we'd rather go to Cancun alone and to Disneyland with the kids..much cheaper!

Our kids had a lot more fun on Carnival and Royal Caribbean than they did on DCL and we could go twice for the cost of one DCL cruise.

Do you cruise out of Bayonne?
We have been planning on a DCL cruise for ages, but we kept going to WDW. LOL
2008 is our year. I've been looking at prices and I think how pricey it is compared to Royal Caribbean. Plus I'd have to pay airfare for all 4 of us to FL, when I can leave on Royal Caribbean from right here in NJ. A 30 minute drive and I'm at the port.
I am trying to justify going on DCL, but am having trouble. We're first time cruisers and my kids will be 6 and 8. I think we'd love anything since we have nothing to compare it to.

No, we left from Miami, but even including airfare, it was still cheaper.

I have been on 3 disney cruises. Twice I`ve done the land and sea. Once on the Magic and once on the Wonder. And in between them I did the 7 day Eastern on The Magic. We had a great time on all three cruises. In August we are going on Ncl Dawn.
