Timekeeper closes for good

I'm really disappointed about this. This is one attraction that we've never done and had hoped to do on our upcoming trip. But the chances are it was going to be closed anyway, as it usually is when we're there. (guess that's why we've never done it)

I figured that they might update it since it was getting a little dated. Sad to see it close.

Timekeeper's closing has been a long time in coming . . . in the movie they go through New York City and the World Trade Center is clearly visible -- prominent, even. Because of this, the "present" has always been listed as "2000." It has been hard for me to enjoy Timekeeper because of the jolt I get when it gets to that part. They had to make the decision to either update the movie or remove it and do something else. I enjoyed Timekeeper, too, and thought it was really unique, but after 9/11 it was just a matter of time before they removed or changed it.

Ditto for us. :sad2:

Hi, I also LOVE this attraction! I hope it will be open next week, seeing that it is Pres. Week and usually pretty BUSY!! Thanks for the post, if I see it open I will definitely take the time to see it again! Joan

Timekeeper has always been one of those enjoyable, yet calm attractions. Too bad the trend seems to be toward loud, fast paced, thrill seeking, and movie themed...not everyone visiting the parks wants to do coasters.

hmmmm...While I liked Timekeeper when it first opened, I must admit, it is time for it to go. Disney hardly ever has it open, which means it is just a waste of space. Sometimes dated attractions need to go, in order to make room for newer & different rides.

I remember the uproar when Mr. Toad was pulled out, and people promised to protests, never right the "new ride", etc etc. And now, there is rarly a time you wont wait 45 minutes or more for Winnie The Pooh.

I hope they put the Monsters Inc ride in there! That would be SO cool. My DS would go nuts!!

I just hope whatever they put in there, can be ridden by people of all heights. I dont think the MK needs another height restricted ride.

We just got back from our WDW trip about 2-3 weeks ago. Timekeeper was closed, but we would have loved to see it. We won't be back to the World again until May. Would have loved to see this one.... :sad2:

lol i have never rode pooh cause i loved mr. toad there are some of us that held that promise wish toady was back rebuild toady better lol. i loved the timekeeper too wish they kept it open more glad i saw it a few years back loved nine eye lol she was a stitch i kept cracking up. have no idea what they would put there unless it was something from treasure planet maybe. wish they would stop closing some good rides and shows and putting subpar stuff in there place yuck

The entire building is being closed so no character greetings inside or out. They are supposed to put something new in that space.

Boy, that was really hard to read.

I guess I'm getting old because I can't read things without punctuations and cap. letters...Bet you can tell I don't text message.LOL

I feel quite old and I'm only 33...

I was in the parks 12/8 - 13/05 and was so hoping that this attraction would have been open. I've never seen it, but I hear it every Tuesday and Friday morning on D-Magic radio station on Live365. It sounds like such a hoot. One more attraction to add to my list of never-seens :(

Too sad. We loved it, although the pan of the World Trade Center always injected a sad note

I'm sad about Timekeeper. :( But not as sad as I'll be if the same happens to Carousel of Progress!!! :sad1:

What a bummer... I think my .... uh one of my extended family members has it on video. I guess that will have to do :sad1:

You don't mean Carousel of Progress is closed too, do you?????? <please oh please say you don't>

Sorry...didn't mean to suggest that, although Carousel's future has been questionable at many times. I tie Timekeeper in with Carousel because both attractions have been open "seasonally". I'm kind of nostalgic for a lot of WDW's old attractions like Horizons, World of Motion, etc. I liked the way they tied entertainment in with a learning experience. It's refreshing to see that type of attraction appeal to my 6 & 8 year olds more than Buzz's Toontown Spin...though they won't turn down repeat rides on the latter!!!!

Hopefully, Carousel continues to be refurbished and charms old fans as well as new!

I don't text message either. :hippie:

I never liked the Timekeeper. Although I'm sorry for everyone who did, I'm kind of eager to see what replaces it. I sure hope it isn't a Meet & Greet or a anything that spritzes me with water. :)

I'm with you on that...No Meet and Greets please...

I want a new ride or show...

:thumbsup2

Does anyone have a link to some video of the show? I know I saw it at least once...for the life of me, I just cannot remember it! :confused3

Actually, the Carousel of Progress technically isn't "seasonal" anymore, since the attraction has been running every day again since the closure of Alien Encounter in 2003.
