Are the islands (7 day Eastern) on Atlantic Standard Time or Eastern Standard Time? This has implications for scheduled excursions, getting back to the boat etc. What zone does the ship use? Do they stay on EST for the duration of the trip?

Thanks... Paul

Haven't checked Dave's site, but every Eastern Caribbean cruise I have done was always EST.

From Dave's site...

If you are cruising during Standard Time (last Sunday of October through first Sunday of April):

Ship's Time will be adjusted one hour forward
between Port Canaveral and Sint Maarten.

Ship's Time will be adjusted one hour back
between Saint Thomas and Castaway Cay.

Michele's answer is how I remember it. St. Maarten and St. Thomas are both in the Atlantic Time Zone, but do not "celebrate" daylight savings time. So, if you travel during daylight savings time (April-October), the ship's clock does not change. If you travel during standard time, the clock will move one hour forward on Sunday night (I think) and one hour back on Thursday night.

Ah, that explains why last March we had to change time zones. In all my cruises we never had to change until last March. Other lines I have cruised just keep all passengers on ship's time and are told not use the port's clocks as a reference. DCL could also do that but changing is OK. Kathy

That would explain it then, my Eastern Caribbean cruises have always been in Sept or early Oct.
