Time to leave for airport?

Our flight departs SNA at 10:10 AM on a weekday. Super Shuttle gave us 4pick up options, ranging between 6:30 and 7:30 AM, which seems very early for our flight time (we don't like to hang out at the airport for too long before our flights).

How long does it take to get from a hotel on Harbor Blvd to SNA on a typical weekday morning?

Not sure but keep in mind you will be hitting traffic as well. And they always pick you up around 3 hours before your flight to ensure you get there in time for the recommended 2 hours before your departure. :)

Take the latest possible pickup time and be prepared to hang in the airport--maybe have breakfast. You will have a good margin of error in case there's a lot of traffic, but it's fairly likely you'll get there in more than enough time.

Yeah you do have to wait almost 2 hours before your flight, but just be happy they get you there on time. Like said, Super Shuttle wants to make sure you make it there 3 hours before your departure like its said. Cause who knows if your flight leaves earlier then expected, then there is security and all else you have to get through. It will give you time as well to go get some breakfast so you dont have to worry about eating on the flight (If a longer flight), or being hungry on a shorter flight. When the freeways are not busy, it will take you about 20 minutes roughly to get to the airport. So who knows about rush hour first thing in the morning. Best to play it safe.

If you don't want to be picked up that early, you might want to consider just taking a cab. For around $50 they will pick you up whenever you ask them to. We usually have a cab pick us up from DLR area hotels around 1 hr 45 minutes before a flight, and we've never had a problem.

SNA is usually a pretty easy airport to check into w/plenty of time. However, be careful, if you're traveling during holiday times (I noticed, Ross3half, that you'll be going around t-day). The check point can get backed waaaay up.

Earlier this year, my mom travelled the friday before easter internationally, getting to sna to check-in 3 hrs prior. Well, with all the people in line for check-in & security screening, she & another passenger barely made it for the flight. She was one of those people who they call over the intercom saying, "last call" & being escorted by airport staff so they wouldn't close the doors on her. She also told me of how she would hear people on their cell phones while in line crying b/c they had missed their flights. It was sad.

Now, you have to remember that, that particular incident was on a very, very busy day. I bet unless you're traveling wed before t-day or sun after t-day, it won't be anything like what my mom experienced. Check-in should be a breeze.

And yes, at the disney hotels, I've always seen cabs waiting for passengers.

Wishing you smooth & easy travels!
