Time to DOUBLE up!! 2 for 1 Pre-TR!!!!!!! TRIP REPORT HAS STARTED!!!!!!!

I canceled Akershus for lunch on Saturday 3/13 and canceled Kona breakfast on 3/10.

I started thinking about that cake. I think I have to keep searching. Juliana's favorite part of cake is the frosting and with fondant there isn't really a frosting. I actually have up until 48 hours before I need the cake to order, although I think I will feel better if I have it ordered before we leave on 3/3.

I've said it before, I'll say it again.

Why don't people listen to me? I have good ideas!

Welcome, WELCOME! I see that you are fairly new in posting, so I just wanted to let you know that all of us are glad you here. Hope you come around often!! :yay:

Thanks for the welcome. I am still trying to get my trip report from last August written so I can post it. LOL! I want to get it finished first, because that's the thing I hate is to start reading a trip report and then find that it was never finished. :-)

Thanks!!!

I don't know if we will ever relax.. it is starting to get a little easier.

It is crazy that August 12, 2007 was her last chemo. She is almost to 3 years off treatment.

:welcome:

Thanks for joining in my humble PTR!!!! There are great people that post here so feel free to join in on the fun! :goodvibes

Thank you for the welcome! I am so addicted to reading trip reports that I never seem to have time to post anything. LOL!

Glad she's feeling better!!

I like the fondant because of its crisp, "clean" look. But kids just want gobs and globs of sugar. Ah well, I'm sure whatever you end up with, it'll be a nice surprise for her, and she'll love it.
I agree about the fondant. I'm trying to impress a 4 year old. I think Barry has it right.. if I gave her a tub of frosting and let her goto town on it she would be so happy. I'd be the best dad in the World! :lmao:

First, most important:

:banana::banana::banana::banana:
Yeah for good scans and for Juliana being such a big girl!! :thumbsup2 YAHOO!
Just wonderful! :lovestruc

Lots of sick kids again, huh? I've been a little MIA as my son has strep. Strangely, he has not had a fever and wasn't complaining too much (he's tough I tell ya!) but call it "intuition" and my hunch was right even though he's never had it before. Like Juliana missing her Teddy Bear Party, he missed his Valentines Day party at school Friday (we found out Thurs night) so I arranged to go to the school and at least get his box full of cards. Is she better now? I sure hope so - stomach bugs are the worst, I think!

I was going to say I loved the idea for the cake, then you had doubts and I agree about the fondant issue when you mentioned it! So, back to the drawing board - it's getting tight, isn't it? :)

I'm glad you got some snow to play in. We again got snow last night and this is by far the "worst" winter for us here.

Have a great happy hearts day with your family! :)

Heather
We are so happy & relieved that her tests & scans came out good! Thanks for the ! LOL

Oh sorry to hear about your DS. Maybe it is a mild form since he wasn't complaining too much. It seems like every week Julana has had something. She has winter break this week then only 3 more school days till we leave! I didn't even think about dropping off her Valentines at school. I guess she can bring them in a week. :confused3

She still isn't eating all that great, but we are trying to get her drinking normally again.

This cake is starting to get annoying. LOL You guys are probably getting tired of me talking about it. Maybe I should just post my final decision. :scratchin

We are getting a little more snow on Monday. It really has been a snow free winter here. I think we have only gotten 27 inches total.

Have a great day with your family too!

Thaks for the link! Claire and I just watched it and she wants to watch it again. I think it's the current version. It looked like all was there. I did get your PM, thanks. I jsut have been busy reading a few TR's and haven;t responded much. If you do find a version, I would love a copy. If not, I'll live though. LOL!

I am NOW hoping DH will go in Dec. We mentioned it to him and he said maybe. He also said it depends on how his hip is healing up. He's still having troubles and needs to see another Dr now. He may have a groin hernia as well. It just never seems to get better for him.
Claire is almost to the point of asking him daily when can we go, and he told her in about a year...so lets hope we can cut that to December and go for Claire's b-day! LOL! :rolleyes1
I agree about the frosting being kids favorite part. Fondant is pretty, but what kid doesn't like a cake full of thick frosting. Actually Claire doen't usually even eat the cake, she goes for the frosting and I finish off her cake peice. LOL!
Glad you liked the link. If you want a copy of the 'crappy' version that I have let me know. I'm still gonna see if I can find the CD in the park.

Skip never does catch a break huh? I'm sorry to hear he is having a tough time.

When is Claire's B-day? When in December do you think you would go? She is doing a great job breaking Skip down!!!! :rotfl::rotfl:

I've said it before, I'll say it again.

Why don't people listen to me? I have good ideas!

You know I can stop at the grocery store the night before, grab the frosting and candles, and just pop the top off at dinner and stick a candle in it! It would save me $60-$80! LOL

Love the princess spoon too BTW!!!! :rotfl:

Thank you for the welcome! I am so addicted to reading trip reports that I never seem to have time to post anything. LOL!

Well I hope you keep following along and post every once in a while! I'm sure once I get back I'll have a nice loooong TR for you to follow! ;):rotfl2:

Oh yea... I'm sure the TR will be crazy too!!! :joker::crazy:

I was getting the ads too. Seems to have stopped now.

Have you already seen this site?
http://www.misquincemag.com/quinceanera-plan/organize/quinceanera-cakes

Or how about the classic Barbie/Cinderella doll cake? Every girl needs at least one of those cakes as they're growing up. Scroll down a few and you'll see her.

Another doll cake but with extra cake on the base - allows for lots of frosting. :rotfl:

Thanks for the cake sites! If I ordered any of those cakes in Disney it would cost me an arm & a leg!!!! There were some awesome cakes on there!

I was reading on the cake chatter thread that they but 1/4'' of frosting under the fondant. So now I'm leaning back that way. I just need to order something so I can stop thinking about it! LOL:lmao:

That spoon cracked me up!! Perfect for your little princess, eh, Tim?? :lmao: Definitely go with the fondant, then; it's the best of both worlds if they really do put the 1/4 in. of frosting underneath!

OK now I need flavors, and design ideas!!!!!!!

Cake Flavors
Chocolate
Vanilla
Marble

Filling Flavors
Buttercream
White Chocolate Mousse
Dark Chocolate Mousse
Fruit Mousse

Icing
White Buttercream
Chocolate Buttercream
Whipped Cream

Oh, there's a million ways you can go with the flavors. It's gotta be whatever she likes, within the limits of what you guys can tolerate. Phoebe's was mini choc chip cake with banana cream filling. There was a layer of whipped type cream (I wouldn't call it frosting but verrrry good) underneath the fondant. Yep, you need to just choose one so you can move on. I have to say, I think it's very cute that Juliana's Daddy is the one obsessing over this. My husband would just eat whatever I ordered. :lmao:

LOL! I do bake! In fact, I was thinking about teaching my budding baker daughter to do a marble cake today. But I was more referring to the price factor. He is definitely a "less is more" kind of guy. ;)

I'm not too bad at baking (cookies are my specialty) but he just lumps all food into one category and therefore, eating or ordering out for things doesn't phase him.:rotfl:

That's just me....

My vote! :thumbsup2 But I'm a chocolate lover.

Thanks for all your ideas!!!

I'm thinking: Marble cake, White buttercream(it will be under the fonant) and chocolate mousse. SO many choices... only 1 cake! :rotfl:

I pre-purchased the photopass CD today. I got an email with the pre-purchase price of $99.95.

I am holding a full size car through Alamo for the 13 days for $433. $100 of that are taxes. I wanted to have something on hold incase priceline doesn't come through for me. I checked all the codes I could including the AP rate (thanks Barbara!) and got the best price though Costco with a car class upgrade. I still will be waiting for my price on priceline.

SHeesh, I hope you can do better, MUCH better, than that!! That seems outrageous to me! $100 in taxes alone?? But you gotta do it. No way to get around not getting anything. :confused3

Did you see the option to get a personalized Photopass card? Dawnbu40 just posted one that she got by pre-ordering the card. I can't find it on the website but thought that maybe if they emailed you they might have included the info.

Cake sounds good! Are you relieved?:rotfl:

I'm so curious about the car deal. I think you have a good plan.

The $100 is ridiculous.... but it is what it is. I'm not worried. I know I will be able to do better next week on priceline.

Yea the photopass card was included. There was a special link I had to go through in the email they sent me. Anyone can order the personalized photopass card for $5.

Well I'm half way there with the cake... I need to get the design down. :surfweb: :goodvibes
