Usually they are condominiums or townhouses with a few bedrooms.
What happens is you pay several thousands of dollars to "own" a week vacation at that location every year for the rest of your life (and sometimes longer).
Timeshares are quite popular in Europe.
Interesting to see someone in this thread http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=819381 has a timeshare at the HRH!
Not quite sure they do I think there is a bit of confusion on the dates list -
Post about HRH.

Yeah, that's me, it's just the way goofy wrote the line. We're staying at a timeshare exchange in Kissimmee, (we actually own in Williamsburg VA) for a week, then moving to the HRH for a weekend. So we are going "from a timeshare", literally!I agree. Unless HRH is in Kissimmee they aren't staying at a timeshare at HRH.
You are getting a nice timeshare with good trade value for hundreds?
damo, I actually got a 2 bedroom, every year use, at Vistana Villages for $0. It's a long story that I go into on tug. Typically, you can get a quality timeshare that will trade well into Orlando at a very low cost if you do your research first. 2008 will be our first year using the timeshare but will usually not use it for Orlando - after all, no fotl!

For Hawaii exchanges, you may want to consider getting into a system that has some resorts there so you would be able to trade or reserve internally - or at least have some boosted trade power for trading through RCI or II into a sister resort there. WorldMark, Sunterra, Wyndham/Fairfield, HGVC and Marriott come to mind. We're able to trade Wyn FSP points for bulk spacebanked weeks in Hawaii through RCI at a reasonable cost, with our resale Wyn points. Just a thought.I've used Tug a lot. It is great. Wish I could get a nice cheap timeshare that would allow me to trade into Hawaii! We've got one week that we trade quite a lot and are really glad we invested in it.
