time of day to see Xmas decorations at hotels?

Trying to plan daily schedules for short December trip. Want to see the Christmas decorations at the monorail hotels, WL and AKL. Would it be better to see them during the daytime or at night? Had planned to visit during the late afternoon before dinner, then head to Downtown Disney during the evening. Should I reverse this and shop during the day and do the hotels at night?

i think you have a good plan. where are you planning on dinner? artist point is wonderful; it is at WL. happy eating and have a great trip. you will love the lodge!!
