Do you think it's appropriate and/or misleading to use this doctored image on their cover?? I think it's sort of clever in trying to make a point, but it sort of makes me feel weird.:confused3 I admire Ronald Reagan, but I'd be curious what he actually would think about today's conservative party. The picture also reminds me of that "Keep America Beautiful" pollution campaign back in the 70's with Iron Eyes Cody.

While artistically I think it's neat, I just don't like how it's being used. It's really easy to say that Reagan would or would not approve when the man isn't able to speak for himself anymore.

I think it's an excellent attention grabber. Probably one of the better covers Time has had in a while. Of course naturally it sort of skeeves me out since he is gone home, which I guess could be in bad taste of the magazine.

I have no idea about that 70's campaign you are talking about, as I was just a gleam in my mama's eye:cutie:

I don't think the doctored image is appropriate. But it is obviously fake with the size of the tear. I consider myself a Reagan Republican. I don't think Reagan would be happy with what has happened to the Republican Party.

Was that campaign the one with the Indian crying?? I vaguely remember it.

I don't see it as anything controversial. Actually, I would love to be able to hear what he would say about the federal spending his party has been doing lately.

That was the first thing/image I thought of when I saw the cover!!!!

Didn't Time get themselves in trouble by using a doctored photo of OJ? Maybe it was Newsweek. Still, regardless of the message, I don't like them using photoshopped images in NEWS stories.

It gets to the point of the article! I think its a artistic thing.
Dont bother me at all.

Now using a Computer generated Orville Redenbacker in the popcorn commercials....freaks me out!!!:scared1:

Oh that was awful.:scared: I wonder if they got a lot of negative feedback. I haven't seen it recently.

I don't know...I love the idea behind it, and it is certainly an attention grabber (aka $$$$), but I don't really like what they did. I feel kind of weird looking it. :confused3

But I would love to know what he thinks of today's Republican party.

Michael Reagan certainly isn't happy about it. I don't think that RR would pose for a picture like that so I don't think its appropriate.

RR is a real person, recently deceased. Using a doctored photo of him on a magazine cover is tacky.

Great cover. Hopefully people will take a step back and actually get the message.

The article was actually pretty interesting. The cover is jarring, but it's supposed to be. The current administration has taken the party in a direction that many Reagan Republicans are not too happy about. There's a quote in the article saying that it could take decades for them to recover from the mess of Iraq.

I must be crazy. I thought you had to get persmission to do that sort of thing. I know Fred Astaire's image was used for a vacuum commercial (something like that) and there was some hoopla within his family because his widow authorized it. :confused3 Recently (was it?) the Gap that had Audrey Hepburn's dancing in their commercials? I don't know how that came to be.

The cover is attention getting. It is a good image of RR. Still it doesn't seem right to me to use deceased people's image in commercials and print media in such a way. It might not be something they would want to be associated with. I think it's best to let people rest in peace so to speak.
