I have been looking at the activities at the Poly and I am thinking I might want to spend some time there as opposed to always being in a park. We have 6 days. My DS will agree with me. My DH wants to go go go. What do you think?

We always make sure to schedule some resort time. It's fun to explore the resort and participate in the activities.

Hi- nice username! We're big fans of taking advantage of the resort-- especially if we're staying deluxe. If we were to go go go, I would probably stay moderate or value. The great thing about the Poly is that you're so close to MK, you can easily have some down time and then head to the park. I say relax a little and enjoy :)

Our girls love resort day! They are 7 and 2. Honestly we spend the whole day at the pool. Between the waterslide and the pool party they are good to go. We'll even bring down lunch from the villa if we have a kitchen. Great days to recharge!

We are staying at the Poly for the first time and have some resort time planned in our schedule. Do you have park tickets for every day of your stay? Maybe you could plan a half day for at least one of those days that begins early at the parks but is open for you to enjoy the resort for the afternoon and evening.

Our family has finally started to slow down and take some "rest" days at the resort. Our DD4 loves the pool ans slides and its a nice break from the crowded parks. Plus its very relaxing to sit by the pool and just have a few drinks.

You might consider taking your DHS day and using part of that for some time at the hotel as there are not a lot of things open there at the moment.
Or if the AK is not open that late when you're there, that's another good amount of time for the hotel.

I'm like your husband and I like to go all the time but the last two trips we have stayed at the Poly and even I want resort time. It's beautiful and there is plenty to see and do at the resort.

Definitely plan a resort day with a 6 day trip. Our resort days there have always ended up being our favorite days of the trip. Plan it as your day 4... Your DH will thank you. We usually book a dinner for the night, either in Epcot of we have park tickets, take the monorail and just enjoy world showcase and dinner, or HDDR or so,we here else fun if we are totally skipping parks that day.

We always stay at Poly and always schedule a resort day. Usually sleep a little later, get breakfast, swim, then go to Disney Springs for evening,

We plan resort time, but never a full day. Honestly, I would go a bit stir crazy knowing the parks are minutes away and I'm not in them. That being said, the pools and grounds at the resorts are so nice, it would be a shame to not take advantage. So, we usually pick 2 afternoons (out of 9 days) to leave a park early and spend time by the pool. Usually 2 - 3 hours at the pool, followed by an hour or two of just chilling or exploring the resort works perfectly for us. We also like to sneak in some quick pool time on evenings where we are back to the resort for a decent bed time (i.e. not the nights we are in the parks for fireworks/night time shows).

Ahhh the age old WDW question. There are basically 2 camps when it comes to this argument: Park Commandos vs. The Stop and Smell the Roses set. Both groups are firmly entrenched in their opinion and both think the other is insane for vacationing the way that they do! Lol. Our family is definitely in the Smell the Roses group. We enjoy almost every afternoon at our resort. I've never been one of those people that feels they need to spend every waking moment in the parks. We enjoy our resort just as much as we enjoy the parks.

It depends on how frequently you visit "The World".

If it's your first time, there is so much to do at the parks, I would spend most of my time there.

If it's your 200th time, I'd hang at the resort - lets face it, the parks haven't changed that much over the past 5-7 years, heck they are similar to when I remember going as a kid in 1993. Certainly not that different from 2010 - 2014 to now other than a couple new attractions.

If park tickets aren't an issue (i.e., AP holders) then I'd view it as a resort vacation with a park bonus, esp since the Poly is so nice.

After our last trip, we realized that we need a rest day. So next trip, we'll pick a day in the middle of our trip to swim, check out our resort and likely go to DS for part of it.

We have stayed at the Poly the last 3 years and didn't spend a whole lot of time enjoying the resort because I insisted that we go, go, go in the parks from sunup to sundown. This November we are staying at the Poly again and my DH insisted that we schedule some down time. So we are going to do one full "no parks" day and we are going to do MVMCP one night, so we will have another half a day to enjoy the resort. We don't have kids, so we are really looking forward to a day enjoying the new quiet pool and hot tub.

We almost think of the Poly as a 5th park. We spend all that money because we love it there and wouldn't feel like a Disney vacation if we were somewhere else. If you don't do it, I think when you get home you'll regret it and say we should have enjoyed the resort more.

We always have resort days in our trips. This year we are going for 7 days at the Poly and have 5 day tix plus 1 water park day. We will have 1 full resort day to enjoy the pool, the resort and plenty of adult beverages. Our DHS day we will use half of it for more pool and adult beverage fun. In fact even park days will be adult beverage days!:drinking1

We used to be a go-go-go family and still are 95% of the time, but that 5% feels like a special treat when we do something a little outside of the box.

Just left from a stay at the Poly... take a resort day! We hung out at the 'quiet pool' and even got picked to have use of one of the cabanas as 'Family of the Day'... and it was my husband and I and another couple! It was awesome! It was like being on the pool deck of a cruise. They come around and take food and drink orders too! Wonderful!
