Time from WL to airport?

How long does it take to drive from Wilderness Lodge to MCO? I'm trying to figure out if we have time for breakfast in the morning before we leave for the airport. Our flight leaves at 10:40 am, and I believe we need to be at the airport 2 hours prior, so that mean arriving at 8:40. What time do we need to leave WL to make it to the airport? Do we really need to be there 2 hours before our flight or if we arrived closer to 9:00 would that be ok? We plan to check our bags at the resort so we won't have to worry about checking them once we arrive. Thanks!

Do you need to return a car? Google maps has the driving at 33-38 minutes depending on which route you take.

I like to be walking away from returning the car 2 hours before the flight. And that's without needing to check bags. MCO security can be a bear. I'd prefer sitting at the gate an hour before boarding than be 5 minutes late. Arriving at 9, I'd GUESS you'd be ok, but is that walking away from the rental car return at 9, or walking in the doors for departing passengers at 9? I don't know if that 20 minutes would really make much of a difference in my opinion.

If you need to return a rental car, you'll need to leave by 7:40. If you're taking a taxi, leave by 8:00

I wouldn't push it unless you're completely okay with the possibility of missing your flight.

Checking your bags isn't really a big deal, but getting through security is. It may only take you 5 minutes, but it could also take an hour (yes, seriously.)

I forgot about having time to return the rental car and that MCO is little bit bigger than our home airport and busier so getting places there will take longer.
My in-laws are actually the ones renting a car and I thought that we might ride with them back to the airport, but now I'm thinking we'll just take the ME bus since it sounds like we should be leaving about the same time anyway. I'd rather be early and have plenty of time than running late and feel rushed. We'll grab a bite at Roaring Fork or wait till we get to the airport and get something there.
