Time from plane landing to hotel

Generally would you say 90 minutes or more from DME check-in to hotel?
Add another about 30 minutes for deplaning and getting to DME?
I have seen some question specific hotel, but wouldn't it be about the same amount of time to any of them?

Wait for the bus to leave about 30 min

Drive to resort about 30 min.

I've had it take anywhere from 45 minutes (where I walked out and straight onto a bus that was ready to depart and was at the first resort stop) to almost 3 hours (on a night when there was a major traffic jam and buses were unable to get back to the airport so they eventually sent us by cab).

Depends on resort as I have seen as many as 4 resort stops per bus, and the resorts are not necessarily close to each other.

Last November it took an hour and 20 minutes from the time the plane door opened at the ramp to be sitting in the lobby of the Poly. I was near the back of the plane. The next day, the rest of the family landed and went to Kidani, and it took just a few minutes under 2 1/2 hours. They were the last stop and had a long bus wait.

Basically, no time is guaranteed.

I think it may be more important to know WHY you want to estimate time it will take. Are you trying to plan for a meal reservation? Is there something specific you are trying to estimate time for. For instance if your plane lands at 230pm and you want to know if you should take a chance on making ADRs for 4pm then I would say No, I wouldn't chance it. And I do not think the arrival time will be about the same for any hotel. I would think someone who rented a car would have a better chance of estimating arrival time since they would be leaving from airport and going straight to hotel. DME can make multiple stops so that would have some effect on arrival time.

Wow!!! 2 1/2 hours!!!! I couldn't do Orlando OR Disney without a rental car. I would have lost my mind for a 2 1/2 hour wait that takes me less than an hour with a rental car and even in traffic!!! Hats off to those that have the patience to do that.

We had 10 trips to Disney last year and 8 of them using ME. 90 min was how long all of them took. The other 2 were using a private car and they were still an hour from walking off the plane to walking in the resort lobby. Hard to do it for less than that.

Exactly....you are repeating what I said.....if its 30 minutes to Disney no matter who drives then less than an hour is possible. But think about it......a person driving can go DIRECTLY from airport to hotel. While a person using DME is LESS LIKELY to get on the bus, and go DIRECTLY to the resort where they are staying. And lets not forget....DME will be waiting for other passengers to board. In a rental car you can pretty much guarantee all passengers are staying at the same hotel. So it WILL TAKE LONGER for over 20 people to board a bus and less time for 5 people to choose a car...load it up and hit the highway. But DME allows a lot less stress and work, so for that time may NOT be an issue if Disney does all the work. Its all a matter of preference. There is no RIGHT or WRONG way. Just the best way that works for you and your family.

I agree that 90 minutes is an accurate estimate. That said, our last 2 of 3 trips, it's been between 90 minutes and 2 hours. Both times we arrived to a somewhat quiet DME area, and ended up waiting for more people to board the bus. We were also the last resort that DME stopped at, making two stops prior to ours. So for scheduling purposes, I always estimate 2 hours but it's typically less than that.

If you get a rental car, don't forget to factor in the time to collect checked luggage that you don't have to do if you take DME (unless landing after 10pm, blah blah blah). That can easily be 20 minutes or more. So, 10 minutes to walk from plane to baggage claim, 10 minutes to collect bags (extremely generous), 10 minutes to get into rental (assuming you don't have to go to counter), 30 minutes to drive to resort = 1 hour.

I'd say it's remotely possible to make it by 2:30. Probably more like 3:30 by the time you get in the gates but sometimes between 2:30 and 3:30 is probable

There could be a long line of people in the Q so you might not get into the first bus .

Why quibble over an amount of time ..

How long the trip takes depends on many factors which are out of your control .

If it takes 2 hours so be it ... if 90 min well done ..... if less than 90 min better again

The average wait time for a bus to arrive is supposed to be ~20 minutes. But, as mentioned, what if you don't make it on the bus? Disney has said allow an hour to get from point A to point B using Disney transportation.

Actually they say to allow 90 minutes. At least as far as getting to an ADR goes.

Last month we got from plane exit to AKL in less than an hour. It is luck of the draw, though, whether you have to wait for a Magical Express bus or not (I've never found the wait to be long, though), and whether your resort is the first, middle or last stop for the Magical Express bus.

Angi, we often rent a car and it's never taken us more than 20 minutes from the MCO to WDW and that's doing the speed limit. The distance between the two is 15.83 miles.
