Time from Gare du Nord to Eiffel Tower??

Hi guys. I'm coming here to ask this since it seems to be the best fit. My friend and I are traveling from London to Paris via the Eurostar in a few weeks. We need to get to the Eiffel Tower as quickly as possible. This is a first time visit for each of us, so we have no idea how to get around!!!
I have read that I can take Bus 42 from Gare du Nord to the Eiffel Tower, but I'm afraid it might take to long!!! Would a cab take less time, and if so, does anyone know how long it would take???
We've only got 6 hrs in this beautiful city, so I don't want to spend it getting from point A to point B...even if it costs a bit more.
We plan to hit a museum or two on the way back to the train...and get to do a Seine river cruise as part of our Eiffel Tower pkg!!!

What time of day will you be traveling from gare du nord to the eiffel tower? Its only like 4 miles from the train station to the eiffel tower, but depending on the time of day you could hit a lot of traffic. The trains do run really quickly, we were just there earlier this month and never waited more then 4 minutes at the train station for the next one to come. Of course if its morning time and people are getting to work, you could sit in 4 miles of traffic.

We arrive at Gare du Nord around 11:30. Then, we'll be heading back to London around 6ish.

I think you'd be OK cabbing it at that time. Its only a few miles! Enjoy your time in Paris, it really is so beautiful.

Thanks so much....can't wait to see this beautiful city. My dd was there for 4 days last week....and she fell in love with it! Since she's in class all day, and has plans for the night, my friend and I decided to head over there for the day!!!

I was there a few weeks ago for my honeymoon, spent 8 days in Paris. It really is a magical place!
