Ouch!!
February in Philly has been darn cold. 20 degrees below normal all month. My gas bill jumped 100 bucks. we have two gas fireplaces. they are wonderful with heating the areas so I'm hoping they offset the electric bill.

Whole country has been in a deep freeze so I hope no one is getting astronomical bills.

How's it been for others?

I was shocked the other day by the gas bill. Been extremely cold here in Buffalo and the bill was only 99 dollars., the electric bill was higher. Our furnace has been on non stop since November.

Ours was $163 which was A LOT lower than I expected. We have a 2,000sqft 2 story house and it seems like the furnace has be running every 20-30 minutes. I can't believe how low the bill was, but I am sure not complaining.

We're all electric. Bill's about $225. It's about $250 in July; typically the worst month.

Jan bill is always the worst for heating.
$163.64 gas actually 5 degrees colder last year. and $20 cheaper this year. price of natural gas is down from last winter.
$111.23 electric estimated and more expensive then last years.

We heat with oil, and even though it is lower than last year. It is still expensive! We have big house and also a wood insert in our living room fireplace. I don't know the price per month because we get filled up on am automatic service. They predict how often we need it by past use and temperature.

We have a1500 sq ft 2 story home with 18 solar panels. We are all electric. Heat with 2 heatpumps and a pellet stove bill for January $298.00

Just got our electric bill and it was $500!!! We have a 2800sq ft ranch in central Ohio. I'm not sure the bill is accurate though because they have estimated the last two months and that includes Christmas and all our outdoor lights, but still crazy high!!!

My old house had oil - this one is gas. I really miss my oil!!!

Those sound like prices around here in delaware. we have 2 different electric companies around here - the one is outrageous! I was lucky that we have the cheaper area - our bill typically never sees $200. The people with the higher company normally don't see under $500. A friend just posted her bill on Facebook for a 42 day billing cycle - 2000 sq ft home was $1122.

Wow!

I get to add a furnace repair bill of $515 to the heating bill  Every time I think I might have a smidge of $ to fund a trip to see our DD in Orlando, it gets sucked away. It really stinks. She is finally there, she wants family to visit, we WANT to visit and keep getting derailed, MOSTLY by winter related issues!:sad2:

We have oil and call myself as soon as it reaches 1/4 tank. My house is tiny. We average about $700 for six weeks. After so many years, we have decided to switch to gas. Hopefully as soon as this winter is over. (hopefully)

Doesn't sound like solar or the pellet stove are very economical then. My husband had wanted to try a pellet stove, but I'm glad we didn't buy one. We have a 3400 square foot house here in the Northeast and our gas bill was $150 and electric was $80 for January so I'm thankful.

At least my electric is low, that is usually about $75/month. I just checked and our oil bill was close to $800 but that was for the last 2 months.

We have natural gas - not looking forward to the bill but SO glad we don't have oil (we had it in CT - wow was that pricey)

Gas heat...bill was $158 this month. Last month was $125. Dec was $111. November was $46. October was $18, then there is the maintenance fee when you don't use any gas in the summer. I'm pretty happy with gas for heat. The whole year should be under $700. It's my electric bill that I'd like to cut significantly.

$133 last month $113 this month. It has been FREEZING here. Actual temps around 16 below zero. We are lucky we built our home 8 years ago and upgraded everything to do with windows, insulation etc. It makes a huge difference and keeps our heating and air conditioning bills lower. Should add we have natural gas.

On the averaged budget...we pay 145/month every month. For freezing cold MN. In a very poorly insulated house.
