Hi

I just replied to a post about someone asking for help on how to get merchandise from one of the parks, which set me thinking;
Isn't it about time that there was a merchandising forum on this site??

There have been a few occasion when I myself have had questions about merchandising, but i have not posted them as i didn't know where to post them on these boards.

I suppose that the most obvious place to post would be the TP and strategies boards, but they arnt always appropriate.
Then there's the Collectables forums - but there is quite a lot of merchandising which doesn't directly fit in to 'collectables'.

What are everyone else's views on this ???

I'd like to know where to get a Mickey Yin-Yang Tshirt? So if they do start a new forum, could you move this post there :)

I think it would be a great idea! We go to Disney every 18 months or so and I love finding unique things for my DD for Christmas or her Birthday. I have called Disney before and ordered things but it would be nice to have somewhere to ask about things that people have seen on recent trips.

We got a Mickey Yin Yang shirt at WDW at Animal Kingdom at the kiosk after you get off of Kali River Rapids in Asia.

Call WDW guest merchandising and see if they can locate it for you.

Oh, and a merchandising forum sounds like a wonderful idea!

I Emailed them and a 1/2 hour later the emailed me back with the price, item number, instructions. Pretty good operation they have there.

Thanks :)

JJS2K3.......What email address did you use??

Great idea for a merchandise forum!!:D

JJS2K3,

I am so pleased you got what you were looking for.
I have heard that calling or emailing WDW merchandising is a very successful solution to getting things.

Are there any more opinions on my merchandising Forum suggestion?
What do the moderators think?

Well, I'm not a moderator but I think it's a great idea! Well, that's obvious from me asking questions about prices/etc of items at the parks in two threads recently. LOL

Great idea!!!! I hope they decide to do it or can do it. I know it's a lot of work running this board. :)

BTW- it's funny Yin-Yang was mentioned on this thread. I had no idea what that was when I saw a Yin-Yang "mad hatter" type top hat on ebay. LOL

I was like what????????

So what is yin-yang? I'm lost.... (sorry for semi-thread hijack LOL)

Yin-Yang is a Chinese philosophic theory that basically says "all things and phenomena in the universe contain two opposite aspects – Yin and Yang – which are, at the same time, both interdependent and in conflict".

Here's a picture of a pin with the MM Yin-Yang. The actual Yin-Yang symbol doesn't include the mouse ears ;)

Bibbidy, you were one of the first people to come to mind when i was writing this thread.

Whilst i am not dismissing that your posts are not to do with theme parks, i think this re-iterates my point about there being a merchandise board.

P.S Hope you are clear on ying & yang now!

Wouldn't merchandising fall under the "Disney Collectibles" forum? That's where I go when I'm looking for info on new Walt Disney World merchandise, questions about stores, etc...

The budget board also has quite a bit of info regarding Disney Merchandise.

epcotfan, you have some very good points...

But not all merchandising falls under 'collectables' though, does it??
Sure, that would be correct for 'Disney pins', 'Snow globes', 'pressed pennies', etc (to name but a few).

But taking some of the Merchandising questions on the Theme parks?Strategies boards recently, I'm not so sure that 'ponchos' and 'beach towels' could fall under that same "collectables" catergory (sp).

As for the budget board, yes, a good place, if you are wanting information about prices, I suppose.
But IMHO, I don't think it's an appropriate place for other q's on merchandise.

But I value your point.
