Still I think Broncos handled this terribly and it would be sweet to see them fail. Nothing against Broncos fans, but Elway is a Class one Jerk.

Yes, because frankly, in any organization whether it is a corporation or major sports team - the guy who has to make the hard decisions often has to be the jerk who shows the nice guy the exit door. That is just the way it goes.

Let's be honest here - the Broncos don't owe Tim Tebow a future based on his record with the team. He gave Denver one nice season. He is a professional athlete, the reward for that is his paycheck under contract "Thank you and we wish you well." And heck, the 49'ers were considering dumping Alex Smith who did far more for that organization than Tebow and the Broncos. Elway was a jerk? More so than every other team that was chomping at the bit to get their hands on Manning? Most Quarterbacks of Manning's level eventually negotiate partial control of the offense - including John Elway who once got the right to call his own plays back in the 90's.

These things are just a part of being a pro-athlete.

However the two quarterbacks that Denver has left other than Tebow (Brady Quinn and that guy that I can't remember his name that was wowing everybody in pre-season last year with his passing ability) are far better suited to back-up an offense designed around Peyton Manning should the need arise.

I wish Tebow well and hope he succeeds wherever he ends up because he really did make the Bronco season last year infinitely more enjoyable. He seems like a great guy. The whole blow-up last year on whether or not he is "too Christian" was just hilarious. Hey, in Chicago they're debating whether or not Brandon Marshall's history of beating up the women in his life is bad for the Bears. People honestly believe that a player being "Too Christian" is a major flaw?

I can't see any team that has an offense built on a pass game being interested in Tebow. That just isn't his strength. I hadn't heard that New England was even remotely interested.

And God bless and protect Peyton Manning's neck and arm. Maybe I should send him an icy hot gift basket as a welcome gift or something.

I agree whole heartedly with your take on Tebow. He did make the second half of the season much more enjoyable. I commend the guy on the way he handles himself, always making it about the team and never about him. He is a great guy and a role model to look up to for our young athletes.

But, being a great guy doesn't make his arm any better. The Broncos, just like every other NFL team, is in the game to win. It was reported on the news last night that before Manning, the odds of the Broncos going to the superbowl was 75-1. With Manning, it is now 4-1, with only Green Bay, the Pats and one other team having better odds of getting there.

ESPN and every other media outlet was saying during the past 12 days that the Broncos organization was the best fit for Manning. I, for one, am glad Manning agreed.

As for Tebow, it also being reported that he has little to no value in a trade, so we will have to see what happens. The general consensus is that he will be traded, but there are also reports out there that at only 1.5 million and no trade value, they may just keep him. Would alleviate a meltdown of many Bronco fans that love Tebow.

I disagree. Elway never gave Tim any support even when time after time he kept staying in the game and winning in the end with his teammates. Elway stated he was the starter and then reniged. Same with 49's. But 49's had a contract on the table with Alex and he didn't take it. Elway refuses to keep Tebow and lets be honest Elway has no respect for someone who isn't a throw it deep kinda QB. Still hope he gets this wrong. Not saying he shouldn't try and build a good organization. But him and the 49's (management, not Harbaugh) both are looking for the quick fix. Tebow is a second year player. Alex is what in his 6th year. Keeping Tebow probably means squat in the salary cap and it is not like he doesn't have something to lend them that Manning doesn't. And look at what Manning can teach a young kid. I think it was a decision based on Elway not wanting Tim around, Period. Hopefully Tim will land where he can grow instead of being pushed aside because fans went crazy over him. I am most dissappointed in the 49ers because I thought they wanted to play real football instead of drop back and throw the bomb football. I for one miss football that is won by both the defense and the offense.

Only time will tell if PM was worth all this hoopla! And don't kid yourself that John Elway was not wanting to show the nice guy the door. Elway is way too egotistical for that. He probably let Tebow find out by the press.

I don't think Elway or the Broncos care about the meltdown of any Broncos fans and they will all forget Tebow if Manning is the God they believe he is. As for them going to a Superbowl with Manning can someone please explain why the Colts only went once with a HEALTHY Manning for 14 years? Why does everyone believe this will now magically get Denver over the hump? Weren't they 1-4 before Tebow and then ended 8-8 or something like that? Can one man who hasn't played in a full year change the odds that much? Does Denver have great receivers or something (Sorry they aren't in the Raven's Division, so don't know their personell that well). Not being sarcastic, just really don't understand how that happens when in the end Manning only got to one superbowl? Is it the competition in the AFC or something? He still has to beat the Steelers, Ravens, Patriots, heck Cincinnatti is better than Denver was last year and they had to play the Ravens and Steeler Twice during the regular season. I just can't imagine that all of a sudden Manning switches AFC teams and he is in a superbowl?

You also have to throw in the fact that without a Broncos' defence managing to keep games close, there wouldn't have been that many Tebow 4th quarter comebacks. You can put that much weight on your defence every game and hope that your QB is actually able to make the plays in the 4th quarter.

Bull. Elway has never said that Tebow was the permanent starting QB. He was the starting QB for the second half of the season. Then Elway said that Tim would be the starting QB during training camp. But he has never named Tebow as the face of the Broncos or as the permanent starting qb. He has not reneged, he has always been pretty upfront that he didn't see Tebow as the longtime future of the Broncos.

The 49ers were never really in the Manning race. It was always a 3 way contest between Arizona, Broncos and Titans. Manning didn't want to play for Arizona as he didn't want to be in the NFC with Eli. As a pure football decision, Broncos are his best fit and it didn't hurt that according to rumors, Ashley Manning did not want to move back to Tennessee.

I am recovering from surgery so am stuck watching tv all day. Manning just arrived 15 minutes ago at Dove Valley to sign the 96 million / 5 year contract.

Susie Wargin (9news sports reporter) also just confirmed that Tebow is being shopped and a deal will be soon.

I find it funny that they are breaking into shows to show Mannings private jet land, the silver SUV heading to Dove Valley, etc.

While Manning in the house is a big deal, it is not that big of a deal

I'm not a fan of Tebow but the more I hear the sports radio talk about him coming to New England I am starting to warm up to the idea, especially if the Pats use him in an H-back or fullback type roll....

Adam Weber? He was an undrafted Free Agent signing last year and a 3rd string at best...The Broncos need a legitimate backup which is why they are trying to get someone like Biran Hoyer (NE Pats) in return for Tebow but at the very least from any team they are shooting for a 3rd round pick be it this year or future.

John Elway can in fact be quite a jerk at times. I personally don't think his attitude in regards to Tebow was fueled by any sort of jealousy or spite but others might, John Elway just simply doesn't believe Tim Tebow is a top level NFL quarterback. I'm not sure of the argument however. He just brought Peyton Manning into Denver. If Manning wins a Super Bowl for Denver you can be sure that the city will fall over in Manning-love too. If John Elway's main goal is to be THE Denver quarterback of all time, it seems to me like he just took a huge risk.

That is his job, to make the best decisions for the team that he can. It is NOT his job to train young quarterbacks and teach them the game. He is not the Coach, The Offensive Coach, or even the Quarterback Coach. That isn't what he is supposed to be doing.

People will judge John Elway however they want over that but I think that most feel that Elway upgraded the Broncos quarterback position. It is a huge cost, it might be worth it or it might not. We'll see.

if it was all about ego, Elway would not bring a future fellow hall of famer into the mix.

Elway was and is a jerk - I take that from his facial expressions during the game and when Tim did anything good, they always panned to him, it pained him royally to smile, to win a game. And in all his weekly interviews, I listened to them all and you could hear it in his voice....this is his way to save face and not cause an uproar....

that is very cool! I like Peyton and hope the best for him, will be interesting to see how if his playing has been effected by his neck surguries. Too bad he couldn't retire a colt though.

I wouldn't take much stock in what Mcghaee says about Tim Tebow. Two very different kinds of people.

Willis has said nothing but good things about Tebow.

Two very different kinds of people. Willis loves to talk and most of it about himself, not like Peyton will help HIS game. Good thing they got Peyton because Willis is getting old and they will need to switch to the air instead of a running game if they keep him. We don't miss him a bit in Baltimore.

Willis rushed for 1200+ with a QB that couldn't pass and faced 8-9 man fronts all season.

He should do great against defenses that will be in the nickel.

The truth is that Tebow has a record 9-7 and only 1 win was against a team with a winning record.

The Broncos had to go to a college offense and even then teams with weak defenses like KC, buffalo and New England had figured out how to shut it down by the end of the year.

It was a fun year ( how often to you get to see pro players try to defend the triple option ) but it's time to move on to a QB that can lead us to the superbowl.
