Tim Tebow

WOW some people are really going off the deep end.

  • The Gronking (spiking) was toward the fans, not Tebow personally.
  • I never understood booing opposing players. It's kind of like mud-slinging in politics. Let's cheer on our team/players instead!
  • If one is a Christian, one understands about not judging others. And I don't see what there is to judge Brady about anyway. :confused3
  • Tom has had good things to say about Tebow. . Tim has good things about Brady. It's a regular love fest.
  • The extremists on both sides are getting to be waaaaaay too much(again, like politics).

Ok, let's compare the amount of charity work Tom had done at 24 with what Tim has done. Considering Tim spent his signing bonus on famine charities within 24 hours and has been working working with orphans since he was pretty much out of the womb I'm not sure you even want to go there.

I never took anything away from Tim Tebow he is a great humanitarian, but you are clearly minimizing Brady's charity work using your own selective worldview to do so. In my opinion charity work is charity work, to say that Brady is somehow less of a good human than Tebow because he wasn't raised by missionary parents is preposterous. Brady has been involved in numerous charity efforts throughout the years such as Best Buddies, International Best Buddies, Heal Haiti, Goodwill, Boys and Girls Club of America, The Light Foundation, DATA and a few others.

The bottom line is both Tebow and Brady are great humans off the field.... BTW Tebow may not date supermodels but he sure does like Olympic Skiers ;)

Most well paid sports celebrities have some sort of charitable organization they either founded or support, any accountant will tell ya it's a great tax write off 'n any PR rep will tell ya it's good press. All the talk about these charities the players are associated with prove they've got smart folks advisin' them.

This is probably true for most, but Tim's family has run an orphanage since before anyone had ever heard of him outside of Florida. Anyone at his university will tell you that he spent most of his free time in college with local children in hospitals or on mission trips. Football is just a venue for him to serve others and be a role model.

I thought that was pretty awful of Tom Brady....made me lose respect for him.

I was a little surprised by what Brady did. Who in the world is Tim Tebow to the great Tom Brady that Brady has to prove some point to Tebow. I guess it shows that Tebow is living rent-free in the mind of Tom Brady. I must say I am surprised by that.

I miss the days when players would score a TD and flip the ball to the ref like it was something that happened all the time. The showboating for ESPN is something I could live without no matter who is doing it.

Yes! I am a Panthers fan (I know...I know...), and our QB Cam Newton does this little Superman thing to celebrate a TD. I love Cam, but I really wish he would just lay the ball down and act like he's been to the end zone before. I have always thought the best way to celebrate a TD is to go out and score another one.

I have done charity work, and I will tell that I'm not as good of a human being as Tim Tebow. What makes Tim exceptional is the way he's devoted his entire life to serving others. When you look at the sum of what he's done in his short life it far outmeasures the vast majority of NFL players and Americans in general. Combine this with the testimonies from people who know him, and it's clear that few can compare in character. I'm only speaking of Tom Brady because that is who disrespected Tim this week. I don't think he's a bad person. It's just the comparison was so glaringly apparent here.

Please take this as intended, but so what? :confused3

Is there some grand scale of charity by which we now measure individuals against? Is that a tenant that Tebow, himself, would subscribe to?

I have to agree. I HATE his superman thing! :sad2:
And I want to add that I am proud to be a Panthers fan! I am so proud of our guys for their win yesterday! :cheer2:

Nobody is allowed to spike it when playing against Tebow.
And I don't see what there is to judge Brady about anyway.
Tebow fans are judging Brady because of the Sour Grapes they're tasting after Denver lost. It's as simple as that.

Did you hear Ditka on Mike and Mike this morning?

Im of the opinion that when you make a big deal about a TD celebration, youre not giving credit to those who got you there. The Qb's throw, the offensive lines protection, the block that sprung ya, the days in practice, the coach who designed and called the play.

Play like you have been there.

Additionally, God didnt help you win. Giving thanks for a TD, IMHO, devalues Faith. God has so much more to worry about then if you beat the spread.

I wasn't the one who initially used charity as measure a goodness. Pick anything else with regards to character, and Tim makes most of us look pathetic. Of course, Tim would never measure himself against anyone else. He's too humble.

I'm a Pats fan. No sour grapes here, just embarrassment at the lack of graciousness my team showed.

I think it may be his brother who likes Olympic Skiers, no matter how others may spin it. ;)

AGAIN, it was meant for the FANS who booed him during warm ups. There is no Brady-Tebow war.

Tebow would be better off if some of his "fans" and now "bandwagon fans", would take it down a notch. As much as he looks up to Jesus Christ, he is not Jesus Christ. And I am a huge fan of Tebow's.. I am just getting sick at how some of the others are acting. You think Brady's spike was distasteful, some need to look in the mirror.

Assuming you are a Pats fan, you're nearly fawning all over Tebow. That certainly could be over riding your like of the Patriots. So sour grapes may still apply. Brady did nothing wrong. Ball spikes and camera smiles have occurred ever since I've been watching football. Nothing wrong with having just a little fun in the end zone.

You're fawning over Tebow is over riding your like of your chosen team. Therefore, sour grapes still applies.

I'm not upset the Broncos lost. That won't stop Tim from doing all the good he does, which is what really matters to him anyway. I'm disgusted by the unnecessary way Brady disrespected them. It showed a complete contrast in class.

No one ever said all Tim's fans were better people than Tom Brady. Tim himself never would show such complete lack of respect. Did you see him after the Bears game? Did you see the way he treated his opponents? I don't understand how anyone could claim Tom is remotely in his league when it comes to respect and kindness after that.

Im thinking both these boys can defend themselves and are ok with the game. :confused3 I don't like the spike, but that's because Im biased and don't like Brady. (Im a Dolphins fan, comes with the territory LOL)! But I gotta say, if a few fans booing gets to him that way after all this time and all his accomplishments... boy needs some therapy :)

Tebow seems like a good kid and I like following him , its a feel good story. But he's not the Messiah and I'm pretty certain he doesn't think he is either. ;) Its FOOTBALL folks!

Distasteful? No, I didn't say that. Just surprised that he would give a flip.

OK, let's work with your premise that Brady's little TD celebration was for the Bronco fans. Goodness, I never knew it was so easy to get inside the helmet of an NFL QB! Brady is more of a weenie than I thought. ;)

Before anyone says that I just don't like Tom Brady. I will say I think he's a phenomenal human being compared to Jay Cutler. Few people measure up to Tim. I sure don't.

Huh. Instead of trying to compare Tim to Tom as far as respect on the football field, I think it would be more likely to compare Tim to EVERYONE ELSE.

When TO played for the 49ers, he stood on the big Cowboys star in the middle of Texas stadium after a touchdown.

Randy Moss pretended to moon fans in Green Bay after a touchdown, I believe it was his last year as a Viking. Oh, and the joke for that was that Green Bay fans ACTUALLY moon the opposing team's bus on the way out after games.

Somebody on the Bills pretended to shoot himself in the leg after a TD when they were playing the Jets (in reference to Plaxico Burress). I don't even remember who that was.

Santonio Holmes got flagged for a celebration in the Eagles/Jets game yesterday, and I don't even know what that was for.

Often times you will see a player copy the dance of a player on the opposite team, usually in a mocking way.

Spiking the ball...? That's pretty close to normal. :confused3. I understand the "way" the Pats do it is supposedly called Gronking , but it's still just a spike.
