Tim Tebow

It amazes me how "we" should not judge an entire group of people by the actions of a few, but evidently that's totally ok when it comes to judging Christians.

I know some mighty fine folks who happen to be Christians.

For me - I don't know that I would use the word offensive. But I am sick to death of hearing how religious he ( or anybody is). Really - does everyone have to hear so much about another's personal faith?

Let's put the shoe on the other foot - If someone was an atheist and mentioned that fact with everything that they did - wouldn't you (general you) feel as if a message was being pushed on you? No matter how benignly?

Well, after that statement it looks like we're all a bit offended today.

That was my snarky little way of saying that if one is "doing" Christianity right it probably will offend some folks. There is nothing more tiresome than watered down, 'let's not hurt anyone's feelings' Christianity.
*tiptoes gently away after teetering on edge of religious conversation* :goodvibes

My relationship with Jesus Christ is the most important thing in my life. So any time I get an opportunity to tell him that I love him or given an opportunity to shout him out on national TV, I'm gonna take that opportunity. And so I look at it as a relationship that I have with him that I want to give him the honor and glory anytime I have the opportunity. And then right after, I give him the honor and glory.” —Tim Tebow

I grabbed this Tebow quote off a friend's Facebook page. FOR ME this is not an offensive thing, nor would it be if the name of the deity were changed. Is this a typical Tebow quote?

For me, Tim doesn't leave a bad taste in my mouth simply because he's a religious man. The organization that he's endorsed because of his religion is what minimizes any glowing recommendations from others.

He chose to work with one of the most ardently anti-gay and anti-equality organizations in our country.

Sorry. I'll put my faith elsewhere.

Has Tebow come out and say he was anti-gay marriage? He might have. While I do know the organization you speak of is that is only one of their stances on one of many issues. I am not a fan of that organization but there are organizations I support without being behind 100% of their message. It is kind of like politicians. I agree with none on every issue but find the one whom I agree with on the issues I think are most important. Of course that is getting harder and harder to find but that is topic for a different thread that isn't allowed anyway.

Playing Devil's advocate perhaps the gay marriage issue isn't a big deal either way to Tim but other issues that they support are.

He is still a Bronco and right now is the biggest thing in the way of my Raiders making the playoffs. He is persona non grata number 1 in my book.

I dislike Tebow, but wouldn't nearly as much if he was say... a Tampa Bay Buccaneer or something.

DOWN WITH THE TEBOW!!!

I knew what you meant :goodvibes.

Christianity is very offensive to many people today.

Lots of things are to Christians too, yet we get to have them shoved down our throats and have to put up with it. Why are non Christians so special that they don't have to be offended? Seriously, I would like to know.

They have been as pushy, out in Ca I believe. That nut case trying to take God out of the pledge and off of money. Pretty darn pushy atheist, if you ask me. Not to mention wasting tax payers and courts, time and money.

I've just been surprised by how deep the resentments seem to run towards Christianity. Is it really that bad? I truly don't understand :confused3. (I was directing this at you at first, and then realized I read you wrong - sorry). Anyway, maybe someone else wants to answer that?

It might be that some folks want to exercise separation of church 'n state.

and I know a good number of Christians who are offended by that as well. It is in the interest of anyone who practices any religion, that church and state be kept separate. It protects practitioners as much as it does non-practitioners if you really think it through. There are multiple types of religious systems-even within Christianity itself, so to establish one particular system in civil law could be a problem for you if it's not your particular system.

tiptoeing away from that line of discussion before any violations occur......

As for Tebow, I don't like that he made an ad with that organization a couple years ago, but I do like a lot of other things about him. The ad itself was not offensive to me, because it seemed to be about his particular story and if you took it on it's own, without the sponsor. it could have supported either side in that particular argument.

I like that he's got a perspective on himself and on life that seems balanced. Whether people like him or not, whether he has a good game or not, he's the same guy. He's upbeat, positive and convinced that he will always do his absolute best and he does. Nothing rattles him, and I would like to have that in my life in as solid a way as he does.

One of the Denver sports anchors (who is a Tebow fan) is doing a spoof on all this Tebow love.

If you follow Drew Soicher "soichel media" on twitter, he is putting a list together on the 15 reasons why Tim Tebow is better than you.

The first couple are hilarious.

As a longtime Bronco season ticket holder, it is refreshing to watch post game interviews where it is not all about him. Instead of blaming the team for mistakes, much like Cutler was so prone to do, Tebow first does his religious thanking and then always gives all the credit to his fellow teammates.

There is a reason why his teammates love him so much and he is such a good leader. Unlike with Orton. whether Tebow is the best QB or not, he has the ability to lead and inspire a team, getting them to push themselves harder and start winning.

More fun to gossip about are all the rumors that Elway is jealous of Denver's new Golden Boy. Something that Elway is now backtracking from (his statement last week that Tebow was not the Bronco's potential franchise QB) and now trying to squelch the rumors that he has a major dislike for Tebow because he is challenging Elway's status as Denver's Sports God.
