Tim Tebow.

Once again, don't bother trying to reason with an SEC fan, they will never think that anyone or any team can touch the SEC.

For fun, here are the OOC schedules of your beloved SEC teams
Florida- Charleston Southern, Troy, Florida International, Florida State
Alabama- VTech, FIU, North Texas, Chattanooga
Ole Miss- Memphis, SE Louisiana, UAB, Northern Ariz.
LSU- Washington, Louis-Lafayette, Tulane, Louisiana Tech

16 games between your 4 best teams, and only 2 vs. ranked teams (Florida State and VTech) and only 1 more vs another BCS opponent (Wash)! Includes 4 vs Div 1-AA

The top 4 teams in the "other" conferences that you claim to be better than
USC- Ohio State, San Jose State, Notre Dame
Virginia Tech- Alabama, Marshall, Nebraska, East Carolina
Ohio State- Navy, USC, Toledo, New Mexico State
Oklahoma- BYU, Idaho State, Miami, Tulsa

15 games, only ONE vs Division 1-AA, SEVEN vs ranked opponents!
I went by preseason rankings to make it easier

So since you guys are soooo good, you basically beat up on little schools, accumulate gaudy records, and clame youre the best. You rarely play BCS opponents and with the exception of Georgia won't travel North or West to do it.
You don't perform well in bowl games, as your bowl record shows.
When you do play BCS opponents, you aren't the best of the conferences.

So other than the hype, why again are you so good? It obviously isn't your opponents, since you guys play cupcakes out of conference, it obviously isn't your overall record, because that doesn't show it. So what is it? Your National Championships? No one is saying those teams weren't the best, but top to bottom, you are nothing but overrated until you prove it on the field.

I clicked on this to see if there was an update on Tebow's condition, and instead I got a rage against the SEC.

Go Tigers (LSU, that is) and Get Well Tim!

Oh. my. gosh.

Look at that.

I am so happy you posted this. :goodvibes I'm sure I speak for the rest of the SEC when I say we are truly indebted to you for exposing us as the loser conference.

We have finally seen the light.

Without you we might never have known, and gone all year being embarrassed.

So truly- thank you.

And I am just so shocked at how accurate the Preseason poll was. Truly amazing.

Nevertheless, thanks again.

Now we know and we won't make that mistake again.
tsk, tsk.

Tim is out of the hospital. I checked as soon as I woke up yesterday for an update because I was worried about him. I checked throughout the day to get updates. He is out of the hospital now. As other posters have mentioned, they have the bye next week before they play LSU the following week.
FWIW, I am originally from Louisiana so I am an SEC gal, LSU is my favorite college team and then I go for Florida (love Tebow!). As lilygator said earlier, I always cheer for the SEC team. I now live in NC, and I enjoy UNC, App State, and ECU games. I also love OU football. I still cheer for the SEC teams over them in any games. I am not saying the other teams aren't good. It is just that I consider the SEC teams to be "my teams." I realize other conferences put out teams that are great. I do not deny that fact at all. I just cheer for the SEC. It is what I grew up with; it is what I have grown to consider "home team" for me.

:rotfl:

Angry much?

:rotfl:

For someone who has said in a past post "I don't even like football" (That was from 2006, when the Longhorns won)-- you sure do have a lot to say.

I was stating a fact- It wasn't a question--One that you have, over and over and over stated.

You were at Epcot, you didn't see the game. We all get that. You are not a Gator fan. You are not a fan of the SEC. You are not even a fan of football.

With that being stated, why do you even care at this point?

And as for Tebow's cluessness--- one of our other players who should have been blocking for him- Matt Patchan- missed the block. So obviously Tebow wasn't expecting the hit. And it wasn't even that hit that caused the concussion. It was the knee to the back of the head from our own player- Marcus Gilbert, that caused it.

I'm not angry at all. It is annoying to receive a snarky "you obviously didn't see it" comment when I said I didn't see it. Duh.

Way to google. :thumbsup2 Yep, I'm not a fan. I stand by that. That also doesn't mean I can't have an opinion. Just because I don't really like football doesn't mean I know nothing about football. I've been to hundreds of college and NFL games. I understand the game.

I know what happened to injure Tebow. I saw the highlights, read the articles.

In the last year, with both Natasha Richardson and Jett Travolta (who hit his head during the seizure), we've learned how serious head injuries can be.

You'd think that Gator fans would be happy that people care about their QB and don't want to see the guy with a head injury.

I don't really care. Yesterday I was bored and today I just don't have anything better to do right now. Frankly, I think it is funny that Gator fans are all frothy that a few of us here, on an internet message board think their coach should have pulled Tebow from the game.

This will probably be my last post because it is coming up on the time when I will have something better to do.

I hope this thread finds it way back to being about Tim. While I'm sure the thread knows who I support ("We are the boys from Old Florida..." Go Gators!) and SEC debates really get me riled up, Tebow could sure use some good thoughts right now, no matter what team you support.

It's not about the teams, it's about an incredibly talented QB who's career is dangling in front of him when he has all the potential in the world.

Will be so glad when Tibow goes away after this year - waiting to hear the appologists when he gets in the NFL, another Heisman winner who flops.... I am glad that he is doing fine, that was a nasty whack to the head.

I'll agree with what I bolded.

I don't hate Tebow. In fact just the opposite. I don't want to see a promising player sidelined by injury while playing when he might not be 100%. There have been many times that winning was put ahead of a players health and I don't want to see that happen to Tebow or any player.

I also don't hate the SEC. I think it is weird the way SEC schools and fans talk about the conference as it if it somehow superior to ever other conference in America. That is something that doesn't happen in other conferences. No one from Texas says 'that is just the Big 12 way and since you aren't Big 12 you just don't get it.' I fully admit that is something I don't get. Not getting it and thinking it is weird doesn't equal hate.

I personally can't stand Tebow, the media attention he gets, how everyone loves him. While I do not wish injury on any player (football injury permanently sidelined me); I def. don't want him to succeed in the NFL, .

ahhhhhhhh.
Now I think we're getting somewhere.

Can I ask what you can't stand about Tebow?
The player or the man? Or both?

I just cannot fathom saying I dislike a player from any team so much that I don't want them to succeed. Especially when I don't know that person personally.:confused3

Uh, he was thinking it wasn't that big a lead, frankly. The Gators had stalled in the third quarter.

Again, so many of the Monday morning quarterbacks have NO IDEA what they are talking about.

SEC quarterbacks DON'T come out of SEC games until at least the 4th quarter. Unless maybe the score is already 50 or more.

Nah, I was saying that tounge in cheek, just joking, in reference to no doubt many Gator fans going to go down this route. :lmao:

The SEC is the be all and end all of college football because of there being so many solid teams in the SEC as compared with almost all of the other big conferences, Pac 10, Big 12 etc., which all typically have 2 or 3 at most good teams, with the rest not even in the running. The SEC has I think currently 3 teams in the top 5 at the moment, so that speaks for itself.

I think all the other schools should just end their programs and they should just utilize the SEC. WIth a very few exceptions, USC, Texas, Oklahoma, I can't even watch any other conferences than SEC, because IMO its like watching High School football.

I agree that putting these small schools, "Cup cake" teams on these schedules is ridiculous. Although there is logic to it, the schools feel like their conference (SEC) schedule is so tough, why make your schedule even tougher by playing good out of conference teams. I think that the conferences should just play the teams in their conferernce without putting in cup cakes on the schedule. But this will probably never happen. BTW the SEC is the only conference in college football. I just found out the other day that people claim to have others, something called the Big 12 and Pac 10? Never heard of them until the other day. :confused3

Tim Tebow won't be another Heisman winner who flops. Not only is he an excellent football player, he is a very good leader, extremely competitive and extremely intelligent. What's wrong? Are you an Ohio State fan who's jealous because Pryor isn't good enough to ever come close to measuring up to Tebow as a man or a football player?

:rotfl:

Seriously?

Oh college football, what sports nutters you create.

Nothing better than watching grown adults insult what kind of men (that they've never met mind you) college football players are all based on the teams they play for!! :thumbsup2 popcorn::

Considering what Terrell Pryor said the first week of the season about Michael Vick, yes...seriously. Then, he wasn't even close to being intelligent enough to defend his statement. Tim Tebow can put together an intelligent statement and would never defend a man like Michael Vick. That (along wtih the missionary work he's done) makes him a much better man than Pryor. I'm just guessing by Dr. Cavin's location that he may be an Ohio State fan.

well my goodness. I am no statistician, but, I can't find ONE site that is consistent from 2003 forward (not sure why I chose 2003??) I have been on gatorzone.com, espn, cbssports, various college fan pages, bcs, sec...you name it. How hard is it to have a teams schedule with the ranking (if there is one) for each team that particular week? Maybe I am just not seeing it out there...but I didn't seem to find it. Even the BCS website was a little off to me.

and as far as UM goes, he is growing on me....I was one fan who was really ticked off re the whole Spurrier thing. UF's new Pres - also from Utah, well, I think that was all pre arranged and Foley was a complete jerk during the process. Not that I am not happy for our successes, and think outcomes would be different if we were back under Spurrier, that whole incident was really not played out well.

http://www.usatoday.com/sports/football/nfl/2008-04-21-draft-database-cover_N.htm
Think the best football is played in the Southeastern Conference? The SEC, now 12 teams strong, leads all conferences with 754 players drafted. The Big Ten and Pac-10 are second at 649.

http://www.houmatoday.com/article/2...ences-are-the-NFL-146-s-starters-coming-from-

http://www.livestrong.com/article/15488-what-college-conference-has-most/

Tebow will never be a Heisman that flops....Danny wasn't either...his suit was just not NFL football....

I think it speaks volumes when an unranked SEC team (TN) *only* lost to the number one team in the nation by 11 points, illness or not.

I will say, this year's schedule for Florida is not as tough as it is traditionally.... the SEC has started doing what the other conferences have been doing all along...

I also don't hate the SEC. I think it is weird the way SEC schools and fans talk about the conference as it if it somehow superior to ever other conference in America. That is something that doesn't happen in other conferences. No one from Texas says 'that is just the Big 12 way and since you aren't Big 12 you just don't get it.' It IS Superior if you go by these numbers:

BCS Championship Bowl victories by conference:

Big 12 Won 2 - Lost 4 Percent .333
ACC Won 1 - Lost 2 Percent .333
SEC Won 5 - Lost 0 Percent 1.00
Big Ten Won 1 - Lost 2 Percent .333
Big East Won 1 - Lost 2 Percent .333
Pac-10 Won 1 - Lost 1 Percent .500

BCS Overall Bowl Victories by conference:

Big Ten Won 8 - Lost 11 Percent .421
SEC Won 12 - Lost 5 Percent .710
Big 12 Won 7 - Lost 9 Percent .438
Pac-10 Won 9 - Lost 4 Percent .692
Big East Won 6 - Lost 5 Percent .545
ACC Won 2 - Lost 9 Percent .182
MWC Won 2 - Lost 0 Percent 1.000
WAC Won 1 - Lost 1 Percent .500
Independent Won 0 - Lost 3 Percent .000

The SEC is the elite conference. If you are Florida, why would you schedule tough opponents OOC when you are already going to have to play multiple Top 10 opponents (including SEC title game)?

The SEC has proven their dominance winning the last three National Championship games by a combined score of 104-52. The SEC is 6-0 in the National Championship game. The Pac 10 is 1-1, Big Ten is 1-2, ACC is 1-1, Big East is 1-1 (when Miami was BE), the Big XII is 2-4.

This coming from an ACC fan.
