Tim and Lesley Year of Million Compromises/TONS pics- 8/5 help me pg. 164!!!

Hey, just ran across your trip report, We will be there june 10-17 with DD 4 and DS 2. I noticed in your report from last year the name on the back of Luke's mousketeer ears, did you get those at WDW or somewhere else. I love the font.

Hi Lisa, looks like our days overlap a bit, hope you have a great trip.
Oh, I love those ears you are talking about. We bought them at the POP Century shop and then had them engraved in a shop at MGM studios, they had a ton of colors and fonts to choose from, I assume they still do it.
Lesley

O.K.,
so my latest additions are I added a Crystal Palace Character breakfast on my b-day so we can get into Magic Kingdom early on my big day.
I also emailed our AAA agent to make reservations for us for the AAA story hour at Magic Kingdom on Thurs. June 21st. Have any of you done this? If so what did you think??

I also bought the kids raincoats on disneyshopping.com Luke has a Lightning McQueen one and Lauren has a Princess one, I have my Mickey one from last year, I love these SO much more than the poncho's, those ponchos are so hot and sticky in June. Now I just need to find one for Tim, they don't seem to make them for guys, any ideas??
Lesley

Loved your trip report and I am loving your pre-trippie!

We just got back and I am already planning another trip!!!:cool1:

Tell me about the AAA story hour. We may book as well :)

From what I understand you can get this free if you book with AAA. They take place every Mon. and Thurs. night. I think around 5ish, it is 1:1 time with a character (I have seen it done with Alice and Fairy Godmother) am wondering what other characters are here too. I believe it is by Tony's Town Square inside, the character reads the story and then it is kind of a private meet and greet after. My kids don't know who Alice is so if it is mainly here we may skip, that is why I was asking if anyone has any more info. Here's hoping!

We will do it all.
First day we will Parent Swap Tower of Terror and FP Rockin' Roller Coaster
Then we will probably Split up so Lauren and I can do Playhouse Disney show, Luke and Tim could do movie ride or Star Tours and grab F.P's for Stars Motor Cars
F.P. Ariel
lunch
Ride Rockin' Roller Coaster
etc. etc. etc. We have so much to do in these parks and will be there two mornings and two afternoons it just seems to flow easier than the other parks and we always get it all in. We will see Stars Motor Cars too and leave for an afternoon break each day.
We will be there during Stars Wars Weekends so we always go to the Sounds Dangerous stage to see Jedi Mickey close to opening and never have a line. We also will want to see the High School musical parade, my kids LOVE that show!!!! Lauren walks around singing the music and dancing all day long.
Well, that's it for now, your thoughts??
Lesley

Sounds like sooooo much fun! I am getting jealous! (J/K) My DH would never let me plan like that. He said he wanted the kids to discover what they wanted to do. Of course, we went in October, and the crowds are not as bad as they are in the summer. Sounds like you are going to have lots and lots of fun. We saw the HSM show when it was in MK, and it was great! Now that they have made it into a parade at MGM, I'm sure it will be even better!

Wow! DH would kill me if I did that, but I like the way you think :) He made me promise that the most "commando" I will get is planning which park we will be in on which days and where we are eating LOL

Sounds awesome Lesley!! I'm curious about your afternoons though, are you park hopping?

You know, it's funny. The first year we went we wandered around in the June heat and waited for everything and thought that there had to be a better way to do this. Then I got into Tour Guide Mike, the Dis, planning things to the T, etc. and I just kind of guide us daily as we go. Tim doesn't really know the details of it specifically, just what parks to go to and when he needs to run to FP's. We kind of have an understanding about it. He gets to truly vacation the way he wants to because he gets to ride everything he wants, he picks the restaraunts he wants to eat at, and we don't wait in long lines. I get the vacation I want because it is planned out, I get to experience all I want to, the kids are happy with the scheduling of their fun activities, we all get to see what we want, eat where we want, and the wait times are minimal and the afternoon breaks out of the heat are key for us.
We used to nap every afternoon (the kids and I). Last year as Luke was older he and Tim would swim or do watermice as Lauren and I slept. One afternoon the four of us rented a surrey bike, that was fun too. Just to get away from the parks and out of the heat and crowds is nice in the afternoons.
Hey, I warned you guys that I was a CRAZY planner, you wanted inside of my head shame on you :rotfl:

Do you find that even though it sounds like a lot (ie: in an hour, go to space mountain, buzz, splash mountain, thunder mountain) it doesn't take long to do it? I feel like to go from Expedition everest to dinosaur would take almost 30 minutes! haha!

First off your my hero... we are going in april with 3 kiddos 6 and under...and I m determined to have a plan to limit the amount of wandering aimlessly!! Do you all use Disney transportation, or drive to the parks...I m curious we are also planning to take afternoon breaks, and I m unsure of the fastest most efficent way to do it.

It seems like a lot but time fies when you are having fun : )
Tim does the FP running ( he has the sweat daily to prove it) so he runs from the rope drop to EE while the kids and I head to Dinoland and we ride Triceretop spin until he gets there with us. That is how we make it work, and I'm not going to lie, we walk fast ;)

Thanks :flower3: Good luck to you by the way, a plan works best for us and we get it all in every year which keeps me coming back (o.k. let's be honest, it's my overall obsession that keeps us coming back :woohoo: )
We use Disney Transportation the ENTIRE time we are there and find it great. We didn't want to wander in a parking lot, find a hot car and drive to the resort. The closeness of the pick up and drop offs and not dealing with traffic, lines to enter the park, parking itself and other stresses keep us using Disney transport, one of the major reasons we stay on property. Vacation is truly vacation to us being able to park the car for a week, we love it!

I know, I know I asked for it, and I am getting it! ;) :rotfl: :rotfl2: I totally enjoy it though. It is great to see how different people plan their Disney vacations. Let me tell you I fail in comparison to you. You are the Disney planning Queen! :worship: You are just giving me a standard in which I need to learn to live up to. :cheer2:

My DH told me that he had never seen me push people out of the way like I did when we were in Disney. He said that I am the friendliest person until I walk through those gates, and then it is a woman on a mission! ;) :rotfl2: :rotfl: I have to say, I can't stand to be behind SLOW people. I would dodge in and out of folks, just to get us to where we were going. Now I wasn't mean, and I didn't take out any small children. :rotfl: Although, I did have to say "Sorry" for bumping in to some of them. :rolleyes1

:worship: :worship: Lesley, you are the bomb when it comes to planning. I thought I was good till I read all your stuff. And this is only going to be my second trip. I know this is OT, but I have a question for your expert knowledge.

We arrive in Orlando at 2:00pm on the 1st of July, which is EMH evening hours at MK. Our flight leaves back home on July 10 at 2:00pm which is morning EMH at MK. We have 8 day PH tickets. We have no park planned for July 7th. My son has a competition that day, and half a day on July 8th after he is done with his competition. My question is, what would you do? Would you go to the park the evening of arrival (we want to be a MK on Monday, I know, I know busiest day of week) and skip going before we leave on the 10th. Or would you save that day on our tickets for the day we leave and grab just a couple hours before we leave on our flight? Or would you add a day to your ticket and do both? :lmao:

We thought about going to DTD, or even playing a round of mini golf on the 1st after we arrive. These are the only two days that are causing me grief.

Any help you could offer is greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Sharon

First of all, THANKS, It's nice to be "the bomb" :rotfl: :thumbsup2
O.K., here is my thing, if you are doing a MYW package then it only costs like 2 dollars to add on more days, so WHY NOT? We always do for all days in our stay just to give us that flexibility. but if I HAD to choose, I would do Chef Mickey's for dinner to see the characters and get that Disney feel and head off to DTD the first night and enjoy that. Just my oppinion.

That actually sounds like a good idea. We are not doing MYW package we are with a convention so we got a better price on everything ala carte, not to say adding on a day would not be okay with me. Would you go the last day also?. We have only done CM for breakfast and have one scheduled on the 4th of July there. Is dinner much better?

Lesley, I showed my husband your plan to the parks and his reply was "wow, there really are people more organized than you." :rotfl: Seriously, we are amazingly impressed with how detailed it is. I won't lie and tell you that I'm not going to "steal" some of your ideas though. Having Tim run and grab fastpasses while you go to the other rides with the kids is SUCH a great idea (honestly, wouldn't have occured to me). I'm such a novice. But the whole plan makes so much sense...you should be a Disney planner on the side. :)

thanks a bunch...I'm really enjoying reading this.
