My family and I are new to camping and will be visiting the Fort next week. Just wondering if tiki torches are allowed at the campsites? We have a pop up and will be at a tent site. Also, my husband just asked me to throw this question out there...does anybody use the bathroom in their pop up or do you just rely on the bath house?! Thanks for the advice!!

I can't answer the tiki torches question. If you use the bathroom in your pop-up you will have to use it holding tank. Tent site don't have sewage hookups and the Fort don't have a dump station. I would just use the CS they are nice and clean

Welcome to the camping board !!!

You can't let any gray water on the ground. Most put it in a bucket and dump in laundry sink or commode.

Though I've never stayed in a tent/pop up loop everything I read says they don't have sewer hook ups. Any water you use in your pop up, either sink or toilet, has to have somewhere to go. If the site has no sewer hook up then it has to go into your holding tank.

I love using my tiki torches when I camp.

The one time I put them out at the fort a CM came by and told me they werent allowed. That was a couple years ago but I was disappointed.

I love the smell of citronella so I burn a couple citronella candles at the fort.

Sewer connections depend on what loop you are in. Although the bathrooms are the cleanest of any campgrounds I've seen, I prefer to use my own. Again, that capability probably depends on what you have access to in your pup.

I'm just thinking that the bathroom in the camper will be more trouble than it's worth. And from what I understand, if you can't handle the bathrooms at the fort you probably shouldn't be camping...right? We are so new to this and have only used the pop up once (last weekend). It was at a State Park and we had no problems with the bathrooms there. I'm confident that the comfort stations will work out well! Thank you all for the help. We're getting SO Excited!!!

If you started out using State Park bathrooms without a problem.Than you are in for a treat with the comfort station. So people start out with the comfort stations and find it hard to use anything else.

Although it's a matter of personal preference, I figure if you have paid for a bathroom in your camper, why not use it, or inversely, why pay for somethig you don't intend to use? I do understand there are some who don't want to use their own. I just never understood why??? But as bathrooms go, those at the Fort are about the best in cleanliness and temp control. And the laundries are located between the mens and womens sections. And an ice machine at one end of the building..bring lots of quarters for laundry or ice, although there are change machines in the laundries.
