Cast- Me! - Disney Planner Extraordinaire, DH- Huge LSU fan!!! DD (12) DD(7) DD(15mos).
Well with lots of promises and begging. I convinced DH to spend NYE in the world. He had high hopes of going to the Sugar bowl, but was unable to get a ticket. So as long as I promised to have him home Sat night so he could watch the game on Sunday he agreed!
We arrived NYE. We decided on Epcot to spend our NYE. I figured MK would be complete gridlock, plus we might not be able to get in since we would arrive @ 1:00pm and DH likes to do his Tour of Beer (1 in every country) so what better day than NYE.
I got PS for San Angel for 3:30pm. We arrived at the park just after 1:00pm. I knew what to expect from the boards and I tried to sort of prepare DH, but he was SHOCKED at the number of people in EPCOT.
The wait for Mission Space was 300minutes!!! We opted for UOE first and only had a 10 minute wait. Next we checked out Innoventions and then headed on to WS. We did the boat ride in Mexico (We had not seen this since it was updated- we liked the changes) Then on to our PS.
Our meal was superb. Queso Fundido was delicious and we know next time to order 2. DD(12) and DD(7) devoured it!!! This is our all time favorite restaurant.
We skipped Maelstrom due to the wait. DH had his Norweigan beer and we moved to China and saw the acrobats.
We stopped and got our complimentary NYE hats and horn blowers. The racket from all those people with all those horns was unbelievable!! But it was very festive. We made our way around to Germany and at 5:00pm (or it may have been 6) all the German cast members came out and cheered, blew horns, clanked cow bells and hugged each other. Later we realized that each country was celebrating the countdown going on in their homeland at that time. HOW NEAT!!!
We moved thru Italy and got chocolate. Then Japan where DH opted not to wait in the huge line for his beer. By this time everyone was jockeying for position for the first showing of Illuminations. We skipped Morrocco and France and stopped in England for beer and cokes. They had cool glow in the dark mugs and the girls wanted one. The wait was awful!
We grabbed our drinks and made a mad dash for Mission Space. This was DH first time- he did not care for the take off. The girls and I love it!!!
Next we toured the house in Innoventions and then listened to the DJ they had set up near the fountain. It was @ 10:00pm and we seriously thought about leaving, but since this was probably the only NYE we will spend at WDW I thought it would be a shame to miss the countdown.
So we found a spot near the first aid station where we could sit up high. I took the baby and went to get some milk at the baby station only to find out that they do not have any whole milk only formula. How aggravating. I had to walk almost to Canada. The line was so long and by this time DD was really mad and fussy. I begged someone close to the counter to take my $ and get me some milk. She was kind enough to do this and would not accept a tip even though I tried to insist.
I made it back to the rest of my family and we waited it out.
Illuminations was great as usual! DH thought there was something wrong in the beginning with the huge fire in the lagoon, I had thought the same thing in November but obviously this is part of the show. The countdown and NYE fireworks were more than we ever expected. We were all in awe. DH gave everyone high 5's when it was over. It was probably the most fantastic display of fireworks we will ever see!!! He told me he was very glad I had insisted on staying.
We made a dash for the front gate and beat the crowd. We headed on to HIFS. What a wonderful NYE!!!
