We are arriving at AKL the day after Thanksgiving. We love Boma but were thinking about trying Tiffins instead.
Is Tiffins worth the price?
For those who have been to both, which would you choose?

Two totally different experiences.
Boma is our personal favorite buffet on property, we always take the time to eat there regardless of what resort we are staying. (1 Credit, is a bonus for those on DDP.)

Tiffins.... We just ate there on Tuesday night. My wife and I had one of, if not the best meal we've had at WDW. The Surt and Turf (Scallops and Beef filet) was tremendous and both of us left nothing on our plates. The desserts are unique and they have some good appetizers on the menu. (Signature Dinning experience 2 credits on DDP.) The best meal was a toss up between Boathouse's Crabmeat Stuffed Lobster. ha

If you like the African flavors of AKL restaurants then I think you will really like Tiffins. (We ate a Cali Grill last Friday and we were not all that impressed with the flavor profiles.) Tiffins Filet blew Cali Grills Fillet out of the water IMO.

Love Tiffins, the food there is just amazing. No matter which room they sent you in, make sure and stroll around the restaurant and visit all of them on your way out. They are each decorated in a different style. Boma is also excellent, but a different experience. Are you going to want to go into the park on your arrival day?

Tiffins is one of our favorite restaurants on property. Boma is great too, but really different quality, since it's a buffet.

I'm not a huge buffet fan - I find them chaotic and they tend to get a bit messy, IMHO. So I'll always vote sit-down over buffet. Tiffins is lovely. I just want to make sure you know, Tiffins is in Animal Kingdom, it is not located at Animal Kingdom Lodge and you would need a park ticket to eat at Tiffins. If you are hoping to just stay at your resort that day, I would consider Jiko and Sanaa as Boma alternatives.

While some buffets can indeed be a bit "messy" I can say that Boma is far from that and the food is a consistent hit with plenty to choose from, including a carving station. Go at your own pace, eat what you like then go back for more of your favs, TONS to choose from and you are in the AKL and beautiful place and is a destination all to itself!

Tiffins on the other hand was just that, was there 2 weeks ago and we both wanted to love this place but left feeling like something was missing. Not sure but seemed like a QS restaurant trying to be grown up, if you will. The food was just ok, had the surf and tuff, both were overcooked and a bit rubbery, nothing really to say was outstanding or memorable. Service was ok, the waiter had too many tables to really take care of the guests and this did take away from it but the food should have made up for it and was a disappointment.

Yes, we were planning on going to the the park on arrival day and are aware of Tiffins location.
Mmm.. maybe we will try to get both restaurants in that weekend.

If there is one constant about WDW's restaurants, it's that they are inconsistent. Ha
This was our 3rd time in the last year and our experience was great all 3 times. It's a theme park so I give the wait staff a little grace compared to the fine dining restaurants back in Houston.
Did your Surf and Turf come with Lobster or Scallops? The waitress said they had just changed the recipe over in the last few days
Sorry that we had two different experiences... My wife and I went into Tiffins expecting the Surf and Turf to be Filet and Lobster as that was what was previously on the menu. Much to our surprise, we received Scallops, (our fault for not reading the menu) typically not one of my favorites, but they were perfectly prepared and the filet was a perfect medium rare.
I know however, nothing ruins a meal faster than over cooked anything!

Do you plan on staying at AK through ROL or the tree awakenings? Or after a day of travel do you plan on heading back to AKL early, getting into your room and taking it easy for the night (sit around a fire pit or other observation area, have a drink or 2, an evening swim)? If you plan on staying for ROL or the awakenings, I would go with Tiffins. If you plan on heading back to the resort on the early side, I would go with Boma. In either case, you can't go wrong. If you want your head to explode you can also factor in Jiko or Sanaa. IMO, these are the top buffet, top 1TS and 2 of the top 3 Signatures on property.

I have dined at Boma, Tiffins as well as Sanaa and Jiko. All are among my top WDW dining experiences.
Since you are considering Boma at AKL, I think you should also consider Sanaa and Jiko. Boma is definitely my favorite buffet. But, I am not a huge buffet fan. In addition to the chaos and mess, I find them too expensive and encourage overeating. At a buffet, you have no choice but to buy the whole meal for each person. At TS, you can share appetizers and/or entrees.
I would choose either Jiko or Sanaa, slightly ahead of Tiffins, but those three only slightly ahead of Boma (even though it's a buffet):)

I like both and as mentioned totally different.
If you have kids with you, Boma is hard to beat. If only adults, Tiffins is very good.
Personally, I would go to Jiko over Tiffins. That gives you more time to enjoy the lodge the day you arrive. While I've read varying reviews, we have never had a bad meal at Jiko.

Since you mentioned you haven't tried Tiffins yet, I'd give it a try. I will say though that we are Boma lovers through and through- its a tradition for us to eat there as that's the only buffet we will do at WDW.

We gave Tiffin's a shot last year and unfortunately we didn't really enjoy it as much as we thought we would; I think that maybe we had hyped it up too much in our heads from reading all of the wonderful reviews. That being said, we loved the lounge that's attached to it (Nomad's, I think) and don't regret giving Tiffin's a try- it wasn't terrible by any means. You may enjoy Tiffin's as much as the others that have posted about it on here. :)
