Tiffany jewelry...can you identify this piece?

I do have several Tiffany silver pieces and while most of them have the Tiffany & Co. and 925 stamped right on it but a couple of them have a tiny round disk with that info stamped on it since it would be impossible to stamp it on the piece itself.

I was going to say that it may have fallen off. But I have to agree with the pp Tiffany expert. The craftsmanship looks to "chunky" for for Tiffany. Their work is usually very fine. The font also looks a bit off to me.

It's a pretty piece though and I would still have your friend check it out.

Please let us know!

Here is the official word from the Tiffany guru: "Lee says no way. He can tell by "the saudering, the craftsmanship, etc. They would never do this." So he says it's totally fake.

So, it's probably not worth much except to the owner. :)

I hope "saudering" isn't the guru's typo.....

He probably isn't an expert at soldering if he can't spell the word.

I don't believe anyone claimed he was an expert with soldering iron, or a jewelry designer or craftsman. The pp said he was salesrep so I'm sure he knows the product even if he isn't winning any spelling bees.

This is a wonderful friend of mine. He knows a thing or two about "saudering" but he prefers to spell it "sodering"! ;) Truly, he IS an EXPERT! He's actually been entrusted to restore the priceless works of LeFarge and Tiffany! A couple years back he spent much time in England and Scotland consulting with European glassers on how to restore priceless works that are centuries old. He's highly respected throughout the world in his field which includes "sodering" or "soldering" as most would use. ;)

It doesn't look authentic to me but then again as op said the picture isn't doing piece justice. You should take the piece to tiffany they know there inventory they would know if its theirs or a copy.

Any jewelry "expert" should know how to spell "soldering" as it is a part of their everyday job. YMMV

Yeah, I should apologize for my comment. :hug:I just didn't get the pp's comment that I quoted. BTW, I'm married to the worst speller on the planet.

Even those with PhD's in English make spelling errors. Albert Einstein was a genius and he flunked out of high school math and physics. Some people just aren't great spellers...I always wonder why people nitpick on message board spelling :confused3

checked all of my pieces and I dont think that one is real but I am now hooked on the thread to see if it is an older piece :wizard:

In this particular case, it goes to the expert's credibility. If he was mis-spelling a very common word used in his area of expertise, then perhaps he isn't the expert he claims. It makes sense to me to question someone's spelling in this case.

I, on the other hand, make no claims to expertise in any area, including spelling. :flower3:

I'm doing my masters in English and I'm dreadful at spelling so even though I'm good at writing essays (thanks to spell check and thorough editting with my dictionary) I don't think I can ever claim to be a great speller.

After this thread I took at look at Tiffany's webpage at some of their stuff...lets just say DFi is very glad he bought our wedding jewellery as I think everything there is perfect! lol

Exactly! He is a salesperson for Tiffany. Like I said before, one of the top in the country, for many years. He is based in Denver. AND, the spelling error was not his. It was his partner's. I do know how to spell it (and tend be a nit picky speller) but I was in a hurry so just couldn't be bothered. I forgot I was being graded here.

Also, someone else said if he is a jewelery expert, it would be part of his everyday life. Problem with that it that is he said Tiffany would not do that, so it clearly is not a part of his life.

I never let anything people post on message boards bug me but, for some reason, the derailment of this thread does. I did what I could help. He says it's a fake. I hope the OP finds the owner.

I agree. An interesting puzzle became grammar school.:sad2:

I'm sorry to hear it is fake. The back threw me. But, I'm not an expert! The font just looked off to me and that's all I could see that looked off.

:flower3: I'm sorry. I really wasn't questioning him, especially since you had clarified that it was not his spelling error. Only saying that IMO it was a reasonable question. KWIM?
