This is long but please read, especially f you are looking for a towncar

My DH and I went to WDW this past weekend (August 1-4) We had always used Tiffany, but one of their drivers started his own company (Tropical)
we used them for our last trip and so we made arrangements with him again for this past trip.

They left us at the airport, with no ride to our hotel. They said we had no reservation (which we confirmed)...so the people at Tropical told us they'd call back....5 minutes later Tiffany calls back and says someone will be there in 5 minutes...about 20 min pass...no one is coming, no one is calling...so my DH calls back...((we didn't want to use tiffany but we were desperate!) It took an hour out of our vacation to get picked up...we were so mad.

The driver from Tiffany, Jack, was so apologetic...he said that the tropical towncar was unacceptable and unprofessional by leaving us etc...so we get to the beach club, jack gives us his card and says I will be back at 4 pm Monday to get you. We said, you'll definitely be here, and he said yes, 4 pm. Done deal in our minds...

So, 4 pm Monday comes around and no Jack. 4:15 rolls around, no Jack...I had a funny feeling so I asked the valets at the Beach Club (who were so sweet) to call them. They say they have no reservation at the Beach Club. Now we received no phone calls that we wouldn't have a towncar...we were pre-paid!!!!!!!
So DH finally starts calling on his phone and Tiffany finally told him, ((after our driver Jack shut off his phone and put all his calls to voice mail after the valets just spoke to him)),
that since we made the original reservation through Tropical, Jack is not obligated to us and he took a better fare (and our $80) but he would pay for our taxi...we were an hour late leaving so we hopped in a taxi but DH called jack and said he wanted our money back. He met us at the airport and said "Oh it was an honest mistake" and handed us $80. ((The honest mistake was us using the in the first place))...
:o

Now if our flight wasn't delayed, we would've missed our plane. We lucked out. But we will NEVER use Tropical or Tiffany again.

Thanks for the info. I'm debating over who to use for our September trip. We've used Tiffany twice in the past but our opinions of them soured on the last trip when we had to make mulitple phone calls before a driver showed up to take us to the airport. They seemed uninterested in pleasing the customer. I'm currently considering FL Tours, since they sponsor this board.

Sorry you had such a bad experience with both companies. I am interested to know, when you got the car from Tiffany, did you book this or did Tropical? If tropical booked it, then it seems the Tiffany driver might have overstepped his authority on agreeing to a round trip booking. After all, these companies have a central reservation and they assign the drivers. It sounds as if Tiffany might not have even known that Jack took the money for roundtrip.

I do think that you should sit down and write a letter to Tiffany's since what Jack did, taking your money and not providing the service, is a reflection on their company.

I would also write Tropical stating that the lack of customer service provided was appalling.

I think that both companies owe you an apology.

This is the reason I never rely on anyone else for my transportation needs. I know when I have to be somewhere and finding my way around is no trouble at all. Personally I find the convenience of having a rental car outweighs any savings I might realize by hiring a driver.

Guess I just not a trusting soul........

I have also decided to bite the bullet and rented a car for our entire trip!

National is having a special deal at $139.00 for the week plus with coupon this has upgraded me to a better car.

There is nothing like having stress of a no show to ruin a good vacation!

What ever happend to "Good Customer Service!"
