Tiering at Epcot

Has anyone heard any good info in this?

I know there's a lot of speculation out there-

I am hoping against hope that they will actually remove tiering from Epcot- there are so many headliners, seems like you would have a better chance to get something you really want if you didn't have to "compete" for Tier 1's.

But perhaps I am completely wrong on that.

What do you all think?

Speculation is all there is right now. Mission Space appears to be switching back to Tier 2.

All the speculation I have is that the tiers will stay. Both Frozen attractions will be first tier as well as Soarin and Test Track. I think Illuminations is still up in the air but I see Living with the Land going back to tier 2.

Tiers will stay. Removing tiering would actually decrease your chances of being able to receive a Tier 1 FP+ since you'd have people snapping up "Tier 1" fastpasses for all 3 of their FP+. You might be able to get them if you are staying onsite but off-site people would have no chance of getting one. Tiering spreads out the demand.

I can't imagine that they will eliminate the tiering, even after Soarin' and Frozen are opened.

Ive never liked tiering but we have made do in the past. Our next trip isnt until 2017, but this thread got me thinking...since both Frozen attractions will be tier 1, hypothetically speaking...if i got a pre park opening to akershus i could do a stand by lane for 1 attraction and FP for the other...Anyways this is what I am hoping to do next year anyways...hopefully the new attraction smell will wear off a little bit before we go, lol

We have decided that Epcot is not worth wasting our FP's there with the new system. If we want to ride we go at rope drop and do what we can and save our FP's for other parks. Not sure how the new Frozen thing will figure in with our plans since it's in WS which typically doesn't open until 11:00....

Will be totally shocked if they remove the tiers and completely expect the new attractions to all be Tier 1.

That's sorta what I was thinking. I guess Tiers do spread out desirable FPs a bit, but I think it's hard if you're off site. I had to sell my left arm last May to get an AandE FP. I don't think it's fun for any guest to wait 60-90 minutes plus for an attraction- that is not feasible for most people. I would love to find a way to do my preferred attractions with a wait of 30 min or under. I worry that as an offsite guest, that could prove challenging. Time will tell. Hopefully it will all work out.

I guess I don't fully understand why taking tiering away wouldn't work, as it works at MK. I know the theory goes that MK doesn't need tiers because there are so many attractions, but there also isn't tiering at AK, which arguably has the fewest to choose from???

Never give up on the FP+, not even day of. DS is going down next week, our spring break. Yesterday he was able to get several hard to get including A&E if he wanted it. Try breaking up your FP+ into smaller overlapping groups.

But you know the parks are SO crowded anymore that the long lines are going to be part of the planning process for everyone.

If they didn't have tiering at Epcot then everyone's fast passes would be Soarin, Test Track, and Frozen when it opens. The tiering will remain to space out the fast passes so those 3 most popular rides won't have even more insane waits.

AK could go to tiering once Pandora opens. We'll have to see. They don't currently have tiering because it's not needed atm

Thanks- we are just 3, and I did the overlapping trick last time for 7DMT. I am one persistent momma, so hopefully I will find a way for my 5 yo to get frozen :)

That's part of the problem. You have never needed a FP for anything else except Soarin, TT, and the old Maelstrom (now the abomination known as Frozen:thumbsup2). There's nothing else in Epcot that you would ever really need to wait that long for and, quite frankly, there's nothing left that's worth wasting a FP on anyway.

Maybe Disney needs to reevaluate their park offerings and get something else in Future World or World Showcase that's worth while to ease the stress put on these three headliners. Spaceship Earth is nice, Mission Space is OK, and Nemo is worth a ride or two, and Sum Of All Thrills is fun, but that's about it.
