I'm confused with this Tier 1 and Tier 2 fastpass + thing. Can someone explain? Here is what I read....

FastPass+ selections for June 16 2014 and later:

At the Studios ‘The Great Movie Ride’ moves to group 1.
At Epcot ‘Living with the Land’ moves to group 1.
At Epcot ‘Character Spot’ and ‘Maelstrom’ move to group 2.

Any selection made before the change will be unaltered.

Here is the full updated line-up:

Epcot Tier Group 1 (One selection can be made)

IllumiNations
Soarin’
Test Track
Living with the Land

Epcot Tier Group 2 (Two selections can be made)

Captain EO
Journey into Imagination
Maelstrom
Character Spot
Mission: SPACE
Spaceship Earth
The Seas with Nemo and Friends
Turtle Talk with Crush

Disney’s Hollywood Studios Tier Group 1 (One selection can be made)

Toy Story Mania
Rock ‘n’ RollerCoaster
Fantasmic!
Beauty and the Beast
Great Movie Ride
Disney’s Hollywood Studios Tier Group 2 (Two selections can be made)

Tower of Terror
Star Tours
Indiana Jones
Lights, Motors, Action!
MuppetVision 3D
Disney Jr Live on Stage

Disney’s Animal Kingdom and Magic Kingdom do not make use of tiers or groupings.

At Epcot and at DHS you can get one FP from tier 1 and 2 FPs from tier 2. At MK and DAK there is no tiering, so you can get any 3 FPs.

"It is a mystery."
"Ours is not to question the higher being(s)"
"All things happen for a reason."
"It's all in [their] plan."

Seem like as good as any answers to the mystery that is the higher ups... Its just something we have to accept.

:rotfl:

That's what I was thinking but never heard of it until today. I like the old fashion go and get the fast pass when you get there but times are changing :)

Is it really necessary to FP Livin With The Land, now? That was a walk on ride 2 Summers ago.

I agree with the living with the land. We walked on in 2013. My husband really enjoys it but we will just take our chances for walk on.

I agree with Living with the Land - although when we were there in March (during the beginning of the F&G) there was a 45 min wait for it early in the day but it was a walk on later that same day.

Also, I wouldn't use FPs for shows. Everyone waits the same amount of time for each show and there really isn't any advantage to using a fp+ for them.

Actually we bought the Fantasmic dinner package and got the priority vouchers for seating right down in front. We got there barely five min before showtime (which I don't recommend but TSMM was an 80 min wait), anyway after the show, I was talking to a mom in front of us and I asked her if she had gotten the dinner package too, but she said she had used her FP. Evidently, there is a big advantage to using it. getting good seats and not getting there two hrs ahead of time. Its free, but then again, she didn't get the incredible Brown Derby Dinner either!:thumbsup2

I wonder if moving LWTL to tier one is an attempt to trick people into burning FP+ on rides other than Soarin' and TT......

Here is a question> What if we don't want a FP for any of the Tier 2.
Say we are at EPCOT and we have a FP+ for Soarin'.
When we are done that ride, can we go to the FP + Kiosk to try to get another Soarin or say Test Track, since we only reserved 1 and have used it? Or do you have to use *3* before you can get another Tier 1 ride?

You have to book 3 FPs - one tier 1 and two tier 2. Then after you've used those 3 (or waited until the return windows have expired), you can book a 4th.

I have a question about the choices available at Epcot. We're not going till Thanksgiving this year. Do you have to have a FP+ to just see IllumiNations, or is it for a special viewing place? Thanks.

This is really weird. I went in tonight to change a couple of FP+ reservations for Epcot, since Maelstrom and Character Spot are Tier2 now.

MIssion Space changed just fine into Character Spot; all the typical options displayed.

But, it let me change Living with the Land, and the only option was Soarin'! So, heck yeah, now for the same day, I've got FP+ for both Test Track and Soarin.

The fast pass is only for a special viewing area. Anyone can view Illuminations.

The IllumiNations FP is for the viewing area between the two gift shops between FW and WS. You don't need a FP to see IllumiNations.

I am not getting why one would get a FP for Fantasmic, Illuminations, Wishes, etc.

If I have to use all 3 to get a 4th by having a FP for the end of the day you cannot get a 4th FP

Am I on the correct thought path

When you go back to get your 4th, 5th, 6th, etc...do you have to go by tiers or is it anything you want? Also can you get FP+ for the same ride over and over at that point?

I think I figured out why I was able to get Soarin and Test Track for the same day. I had reservations prior to today's change:

Test Track
Mission Space
Living with the Land

Since LwtL was my Tier2, which turned into a Tier1 today, the only thing i could change it to was Soarin' and one other attraction that i can't recall. Oddly, it didn't list all the Tier1 items. But, since it's now Tier1, it makes sense that it won't offer any of the Tier2 attractions as replacements.

So, just a heads up for any of you folks that have already made reservations. There's a way to get TT and Soarin on the same day.

This shouldn't affect any fastpass+ that are already made correct?

I have Toy Story and Movie ride already booked for Monday.
