Hi, I'm about to attempt to make our Mickey tie dye shirts and I bought some black dye to use for Mickey's head- now I'm wondering if it will work/how to use it. It's for warm water/hand use and is Dylon brand... I haven't tie dyed since Girl Scouts so I pretty much have no idea what I'm doing, so will this stuff even work? I'll also be using the colors that came with the kit I bought... Thanks so much!

you should pretty much follow the directions for the type of dye that you got.

Also check out dharmatrading.com, they specialize in fabric dye and paint (this is usually who I get my dye from, Its very high quality). I'm sure there are also other websites that will give Ideas on how to go about your dying. For something like your mickey heads I would go with squirt bottles for applying the dye (rather than dipping it in dye).

I had taken a graphic arts class in highschool and my teacher went into tie dying, even had some instructional videos that were very helpful. Its just hard to explain how to go about it (making a Mickey in particular) without being able to actually show you.

Hope this helps you a little.

Thanks, I was too chicken and decided not to do the black :rolleyes1 I can't wait til tomorrow when we can see how they turned out, send some pixie dust!

I think there's a sticky with instructions on the creative DISigns forum :goodvibes
